Measurements

Measurements are based upon the metric system. The names given will be the local Dursh names

System of Measurements

Prefixes are used to denote partitions or collections of measurements. If the names sound familiar, they should. :)

1. pico = 1 / 1,000,000,000,000
2. nano = 1 / 1,000,000,000
3. micro = 1 / 1,000,000
4. milli = 1 / 1,000
5. centi = 1 / 100
6. deci = 1 / 10
7. deca = 10
8. hecto = 100
9. kilo = 1,000
10. mega = 1,000,000
11. giga = 1,000,000,000
12. terra = 1,000,000,000,000

Distances

There are two standard measurements of distance: The 'Mata' and the 'Ducer'

1. The common short distance is measured in a 'Mata'. It equates to 1 meter. Abbreviation: mt
2. The common long distance is measured in a 'Ducer' (pronounced with a soft 'c'). It equates to 1 kilometer. Abbreviation: dc
3. A 'kilomata' is exactly equal to a 'Ducer'.
4. A 'kiloducer' is exactly equal to a 'megamata'.
5. Most scientific epistles use 'Mata' for all measurements. However, common and governmental usage prefers 'Ducer' in measuring long distances.
6. References to measurements less than a ducer are rare, except in using 'half ducer', 'quarter ducer', or 'tenth of a ducer'.

Weights

1. The basic unit of weight is the 'Zed'. It is equivalent to a gram. Abbreviation: zd.
2. Metric prefixes apply.

Liquids

1. The basic unit of a liquid is the 'Ank'. It is equivalent to a liter. Abbreviation: ak.
2. Metric prefixes apply.

Time

Time is generally based upon the Metric system, as it was difficult to evenly split the day into even chunks of 10. The below will explain.

1. The basic unit of time is the 'Sekvit'. It generally equates to 1 second. Note: In the parlance of the game, 1 sekvit will take 40 milliseconds of Earth time.
2. Times shorter than a sekvit use the metric prefixes.
3. 100 sekvits is called a 'Minvit'. If your a nose-stuck-in-the-air purist, you also use 'hectosekvit'. But no normal person uses that.
4. 100 minvits is called a 'Bulvit'. And, no, nobody uses the term 'decakilosekvit'.
5. 20 bulvits equates to 1 Day. This is called a 'Vit'.
6. Metric prefixes are not used for vits. You will never hear someone use 'kilovit' for 1,000 days.
7. 504 vits equate to 1 year. This is called an 'Runvit'.
8. Metric prefixes are not used for runvits. That's just silly.

The beginning runvit for the game will be 1500.

Calendar

1. There are 6 vits in an 'Wevit'. This equates to a week.
2. The 504 vits are split into sixteen 'anvits', or months.
3. 12 of the anvits have five wevits, while 4 of the anvits have six wevits.
4. A series of 3 5-wevit anvits and 1 6-wevit anvit constitute a Season. There are 4 seasons in the calendar.
5. The last wevit of each 6-wevit anvit is a Festival Wevit, which celebrates the upcoming season.
6. In the last anvit, the 5th wevit is the seasonal Festival, while the 6th wevit is the Yearly Festival.
7. Runvit Day equates to New Year's Day, and is celebrated on Crosku 1 (see below)

Cludom (1st season)

Equates to the Earth Northern Hemispheric Spring. The months are named:

1. Crosku (5 wevits)
2. Rebu (5 wevits)
3. Du (5 wevits)
4. Cludom (6 wevits)

Stosc (2nd season)

Equates to the Earth Northern Hemispheric Summer. The months are named:

1. Doman (5 wevits)
2. Zunekan (5 wevits)
3. Ocmovian (5 wevits)
4. Stosc (6 wevits)

Horisdelic (3rd season)

Equates to the Earth Northern Hemispheric Fall. The months are named:

1. Flum (5 wevits)
2. Glum (5 wevits)
3. Desblum (5 wevits)
4. Horisdelic (6 wevits)

Dolkendo (4th season)

Equates to the Earth Northern Hemispheric Winter. The months are named:

1. Junasit (5 wevits)
2. Brassit (5 wevits)
3. Morsit (5 wevits)
4. Dolckendo (6 wevits) (the Festival of the Spring and the Festival of the Year are celebrated here. It's quite the party.)

Vits of the Wevit

There are six vits in each wevit. The name of six vits are:

1. Ernsvit
2. Arnsvit
3. Turmivit
4. Tomivit
5. Grunsvit
6. Randsvit
