First, tell the player this:

Born into nothingness, you were picked up by a loving tribe. Bound together from the start. Soon you discovered the world around you, its size, the possibilities, and its dangers. You found a place in your tribe, working with wood, tailoring clothes, repairing buildings. This had been going on for at least 5 generations. You see child, everytime someone dies in the tribe of the Volans, they are reincarnated, reborn! So that your number may always be 148.

The spire in the middle of the town had always glowed in a greenish color. It's low humming soothing children in the night, and reminding everyone of its life-giving presence. But things have turned sour, the pod has lots its hum and its glow. The land is dying, and everything with it. For the first time, your tribe has been only 147 members for more than a few hours. As this happened, the elders have immediatelly called for an emergency meeting. A group of the bravest were to enter the caves below to see if they can find the source of the issue.

Then, explain this:

It was late in the evening, the council had asked you to come so as that you may be given all you need to venture deep.

They give you these items:

• A sturdy lance with a shiny tip
• A small gemstone
• A hardened axe of cold stone
