The case involves a dispute over the ownership of copyright and performers' property rights. The case involves the use of CGI to recreate the actor, Peter Cushing, who died. The production company was using his performance and likeness for a film that he never filmed for. It raised questions on the extent to which an actor’s performer’s rights can be exploited after their death and whether it goes to the actor’s estate or with the production company. On both sides, I understand the complexity of the situation, but I believe that the production company should have asked to use Peter Cushing’s estate before they recreated him. This is more of an ethics issue as if production companies do not see this as a problem, it will continue to happen.

Production companies have been using CGI for actors a lot lately, as they are still using CGI in Star Wars. In the Mandalorian, they use CGI to de-age the actor, Mark Hamill, and in other movie Blade Runner, They de-aged Sean Young. While production companies are getting used to doing this, I believe they must talk to the actor or their estate before they are used in CGI. I believe it is unethical for companies to use actor’s performance without their consent.
