Astrodynes Source Assessment (2026-04-09)

Status: source review completed; primary manual located

Purpose:

  • assess whether the newly supplied Astrodynes PDFs are sufficient to admit a source-faithful Astrodynes/Cosmodynes subsystem into Moira
  • separate what is now explicit from what remains computationally missing
  • preserve the distinction between the Hermetic Astrodynes doctrine and the already-admitted Garcia-style harmograms family

Source character:

  • 369218140-01-Astrodynes-Planets.pdf is a Church of Light instructional class handout focused on interpretation and example chart output.
  • 486602558-Astrodynes.pdf is Dennis Sutton's 2019 explanatory ebook. It is explicitly secondary and states that its content is referenced to Brotherhood of Light Course 16 (Stellar Healing) and The Astrodyne Manual.
  • Astrodyne-Manual.pdf is the primary Hermetic source needed for source lineage. It presents the governing calculation rules, worked examples, house power table, zodiacal and parallel aspect procedures, sign and house rollups, and harmony/discord derivation rules.
  • tmp/25garcian.html documents Miguel Garcia Ferrandez's Fourier/harmogram work and is not the same doctrine family as Hermetic Astrodynes.

    • use the wider effective orb of the two bodies/houses involved
    • Mercury keeps the ordinary planetary orb, but when within orb its power is computed as if Sun/Moon occupied its position

  • Aspect harmony/discord is explicit as aspect power translated by aspect type, then modified by involved planets:
    • Venus: one-quarter harmony contribution
    • Jupiter: one-half harmony contribution
    • Mars: one-quarter discord contribution
    • Saturn: one-half discord contribution
  • Essential-dignity bonuses/penalties are explicit in scale:
    • degree of exaltation: +4
    • exaltation: +3
    • home: +2
    • harmony: +1
    • degree of fall: -4
    • fall: -3
    • detriment: -2
    • inharmony: -1
  • Mutual reception bonus is explicit:
    • each planet receives +5 harmodynes
  • Sign and house scores are explicit as additive rollups from planets plus partial ruler contributions, using algebraic net harmony/discord.

3. What Still Needs Transcription or Confirmation

The source position is now much stronger, but one gap still matters before a fully verified implementation claim.

Still needing exact transcription or confirmation:

  • the standalone mutual-reception table in directly captured form
  • confirmation whether the manual PDF ever contained that table visually or whether it must be sourced from a companion Church of Light artifact
  • enough worked examples to validate a code implementation term by term

This is no longer a doctrinal uncertainty about the family itself. It is now a transcription and validation problem.

4. Admission Judgment

4.1 What can now be admitted

The following can be admitted as research truth:

  • Hermetic Astrodynes/Cosmodynes are a distinct, supportable doctrine family.
  • They are not interchangeable with Garcia-style harmograms.
  • Moira now has enough primary-source material to define the computational surface of the subsystem in broad executable terms.
  • The manual is sufficient to move the topic out of "missing primary source" status and into "implementation/transcription" status.

4.2 What cannot yet be admitted

The following must remain deferred:

  • parity claims against Church of Light or Hermetic astrology software/manuals before the remaining tables are transcribed and tested
  • any claim that every numeric table entry has been captured from source before that transcription is complete

Reason:

  • the governing method is now present, but some referenced tables still need exact transcription/confirmation before a code implementation can be called source-complete

5. Recommended Repository Position

Recommended Moira position after this review:

  • treat Astrodynes/Cosmodynes as implementation-unblocked in principle
  • do not approximate any still-untranscribed table entries
  • enter a source-transcription phase before engine coding
  • require validation against manual examples before public admission of parity

6. Immediate Next Requirement

  • use the transcribed natal source packet in wiki/05_research/astrodynes/astrodynes_natal_source_capture_2026-04-09.md to define the Phase 1 natal policy surface
  • obtain one or more authoritative worked examples for validation
