Hellenistic Free, Enhanced, and Workspace Product Plan

Status: Archived pre-implementation product proposal. The six engine gates are complete; all website-tier inventories and promises below require a fresh audit of the active website checkout before implementation.

Engine correction (2026-07-25). This proposal does not override the admitted engine boundary. Decennials currently ends at L2 and now preserves an explicit 360-day distribution coordinate plus elapsed-Julian-day projection receipt; it does not claim civil-month anniversaries. The Gundel/Harley Hermetic name-and-face catalog is reconstructed, but its lookup geometry and all Hermetic product transport are closed exclusions. They are not work items in this product plan.

Release posture: The six-gate engine contract shipped in moira-astro 6.0.0; the additive dated monthly-profection contract is the 6.1.0 release-candidate delta. Package and REST closure are recorded in hellenistic_completion/HELLENISTIC_ENGINE_GATES_2026-07.md; hosted website entitlement work remains separate.

Product constitution

1. The MIT package and self-hosted REST server expose every admitted computation without commercial entitlement code.
2. The hosted ladder is Free < Enhanced < Urania Workspace; Workspace inherits Enhanced. Reuse the existing centralized server-side entitlement model.
3. A subscription buys workflow, persistence, composition, operational scale, and practitioner controls. It does not buy hidden doctrine, sources, failure reasons, or a more favorable result.
4. Every displayed result identifies its lineage, source, selector/policy, engine version, kernel, time/location semantics, derivation, warnings, and not_evaluable reasons where applicable.
5. Hellenistic, Hermetic, Persian/Medieval, and later Traditional material remain visibly distinct. "Traditional" may be an umbrella navigation category, not a license to collapse lineages.
6. Source-owned quantities such as admitted dignity weights remain available as their named doctrinal objects. Moira does not manufacture a universal strength, luck, fate, auspiciousness, or confidence score from them.
7. Timelines juxtapose separately named techniques. They do not silently merge techniques into a prediction or promised outcome.
8. Electional work remains bounded and evidence-bearing: inspect a supplied moment, compare a finite candidate set, or scan a finite interval under named constraints. There is no universal "best date" product.

The commercial principle is: computation stays open; hosted continuity, synthesis, and professional workflow may be paid.

Market finding

The free-market floor is already high:

• Astro-Seek provides a wide set of free traditional calculators, including profections, Zodiacal Releasing, lots, primary directions, distributions, Firdaria, and Decennials. Its principal weakness is fragmentation across separate calculators.
• Astro.com keeps broad core calculation available without trying to make every specialist method one integrated workflow; paid products emphasize storage and publication.
• Astro Gold offers free natal/transit charts and interpretations, then charges for its broader feature set: $7.99 monthly, $39.99 annually, or a $69.99 lifetime unlock on iOS at the time of research.
• Solar Fire V9 is a $360 practitioner desktop product. Its paid value is integration: saved chart files, extensive customization, primary directions, profections, dynamic hit lists, electional searches, calendars, reports, and export.
• Traditional-Astrology.com offers a real free traditional reading and charges a one-time $20 for source-cited synthesis and PDF delivery.
• Astrolium currently advertises a free foundation and paid personal/practitioner/studio workflow at approximately $11/$29/$79 monthly. The higher tiers sell clients, scanners, history, reports, API access, alerts, and team workflow. Its pricing and Hellenistic feature pages are not fully consistent about which timing tools belong to which tier, so they are directional evidence rather than a contract model.

Therefore Moira Free cannot be a token sect badge or one locked profection result. Moira's opportunity is an integrated, inspectable method: competitors often provide either disconnected calculators or opaque synthesis. Enhanced should sell personal continuity. Workspace should sell repeatable practitioner work, not superior astrological truth.

Prices and advertised capabilities above were checked on 2026-07-21. They are market observations, not independent validation of competitors' calculations.

Lineage boundary

Hellenistic-labelled product

The current admitted basis includes:

• Whole Sign houses and whole-sign aspects, including direction and overcoming.
• Sect, sect light, hayz, halb, planetary joys, oriental/occidental condition, and besieging.
• Classical essential dignity components, receptions, and source-owned condition vessels.
• Dorothean triplicity under the single admitted DOROTHEAN_PINGREE_1976 doctrine.
• Egyptian, Ptolemaic, and Chaldean day/night bounds, with the selector shown.
• Chaldean faces; Hermetic decans only when explicitly labelled Hermetic.
• Classical lots with formula, sect reversal, dependency, and condition truth.
• Annual and monthly profections.
• Zodiacal Releasing and Decennials under their admitted policies.
• Specifically identified Dorothean electional rules.
• Specifically identified Ptolemaic branches within the broader primary-directions subsystem.

Traditional umbrella, not Hellenistic

These may appear in adjacent Traditional workflows but must retain their actual lineage:

• Firdaria and its Bonatti variant: Persian/Medieval.
• Sahl matter and Moon-condition profiles: Medieval Arabic.
• Lord of the Orb, Lord of the Turn, Almuten Figuris, and the current hyleg/alcocoden candidate: Arabic/Medieval lineages.
• Ramesey Moon conditions and Lilly perfection: Early Modern.
• Placidian, Morinus, Regiomontanus, topocentric, and other later primary-direction presets.

The website currently calls Firdaria Hellenistic in client/src/docs-content/timing-timelords.md; that copy must be corrected before launch. The package audit also overstates triplicity doctrine support in wiki/07_audit/FEATURE_AUDIT_2026.md; live code admits only the Dorothean Pingree doctrine.

Current product truth

Open package and self-hosted REST

The engine already has broad Hellenistic computation. Registered REST includes:

• Chart/houses and the Western chart-profile bundle.
• Six dignity/condition routes.
• Seven lots routes.
• Three triplicity routes.
• Seven bounds routes.
• Four admitted direct Decanates routes; no Hermetic-decan route is exposed.
• Three profection, six Decennials, and five Zodiacal Releasing routes.
• Four source-scoped Dorotheus electional routes.
• Eight mixed-lineage primary-directions routes.

Firdaria has five additional routes but belongs to the Persian/Medieval lane.

Website Free today

Free already provides a public natal calculator, Whole Sign among its free house systems, five Ptolemaic aspects, public planetary hours, ten saved charts for a Free account, and the existing bounded transit experience. It does not yet have a dedicated Hellenistic essentials panel.

Website Enhanced today

Enhanced already contractually owns the website's advanced single-chart layers: dignities, a curated ten-lot set, Behenian stars, midpoints, declination, lunar mansions, antiscia, and chart-aware layer interpretations. It also owns unlimited hosted chart storage and wider personal forecasting. These should not be moved up to Workspace.

The curated lots are Fortune, Spirit, Eros, Necessity, Courage, Victory, Nemesis, Marriage, Children, and Substance. Existing copy calling this a "28-lot shortlist" is stale.

No hosted website route or interface currently exposes annual profections, Decennials, Firdaria, or Zodiacal Releasing.

Urania Workspace today

Workspace already supplies the correct professional substrate:

• Explicit dignity, bounds, face, solar-condition, sect, and accidental-policy controls.
• Full lots search, tradition filters, formulas, reversal truth, dependencies, conditions, and networks.
• Evidence-rich planet and lot inspectors.
• A substantial primary-directions workbench with spatial/reduction presets, time keys, arcs, profiles, networks, and speculum.
• Progressions, transits, returns, imports, chart-library sync, persistent chart conversation, and research memory.

The Hellenistic feature should extend this environment rather than create a second practitioner application.

Free must remain useful without an account. Existing Free chart-storage limits may remain, but the Hellenistic calculation itself should not acquire an artificial daily quota. Reuse the current public-compute guard.

Required kernel copy:

Free and Enhanced use JPL DE440. Urania Workspace uses JPL DE441 for extended research coverage. Technique definitions and doctrinal policies are identical. Every result identifies its kernel and coverage.

DE441 must not be marketed as secret doctrine or "more accurate astrology."

Product experience

Free: Hellenistic essentials

Create a public /hellenistic-astrology experience that answers four useful questions in one coherent flow:

1. Is this a day or night chart, and what follows directly from that sect basis?
2. What are the visible condition components for the seven classical planets?
3. Where are the four foundational lots, and how were they calculated?
4. What annual profection and current ZR/Decennials periods are active now?

The page must show formulas, named policies, sources, and uncertainty/failure states. Locked cards may preview personal continuity and practitioner tools, but must not conceal the method used by visible results.

Enhanced: personal Traditional study

Enhanced adds continuity around one person's charts:

• Saved full condition dossiers and receptions.
• The existing ten curated lots and saved comparisons.
• Full profection schedules and arbitrary-date lookup.
• Full personal ZR timelines, Fortune/Spirit comparison, and transitions.
• Admitted Decennials L1/L2 timelines.
• An adjacent, correctly labelled Firdaria lane.
• Personal multi-lane timelines, exports, and user-authored reminders.
• Chart-aware explanations that cite the exact evidence they summarize.

Enhanced copy should say continuity and synthesis, not "advanced truth."

Workspace: Hellenistic and Traditional practice workbench

Workspace adds practitioner control and repeatability:

• Client/case organization and historical/BCE workflows.
• Full lot catalog, saved lot sets, networks, and cross-chart comparison.
• Dignity/bounds/face policy laboratory and side-by-side receipts.
• Multi-lot ZR comparison and synchronized profection/ZR/Decennials lanes.

Workspace should initially remain one named practitioner seat. Teams, white-labelling, unlimited automation, and public write API are later commercial decisions, not launch requirements for a $19 tier.

Transport and composition architecture

Do not add entitlements to moira or moira_server. Hosted commercial gates belong in the website tRPC/gateway and Workspace proxy.

Package/REST closure — complete

The six-gate engine roadmap now owns this receipt. Whole-sign direction/overcoming, the typed non-interpretive chart profile, exact atomic receipts, serializers, REST models, and OpenAPI schemas are complete. Decennials fails closed above L2; its deprecated request compatibility field accepts only omission or null, exposes no named selector, and Valens distribution interpretation remains outside every Hellenistic profile.

The aggregate response should not create new doctrine. It should compose exact atomic receipts and preserve at least:

• Scans require explicit start, end, timezone, step, named constraints, and hard duration/candidate/result ceilings.
• Every saved composition records the exact atomic results, policy, engine, kernel, and source identities used.

Implementation sequence

0. Correct the product record

• Correct Firdaria and other lineage mislabelling.
• Correct Enhanced DE441 copy to DE440, the ten-lot/"28-lot" drift, unverified "500+ lots" copy, stale Directions deferral copy, and chart-library persistence wording.
• Generate catalog counts from the live admitted catalog rather than marketing literals.
• Freeze the tier matrix and capability names in one shared product contract.

1. Close package and atomic REST gaps — complete

• Whole-sign aspect/overcoming and the typed Hellenistic profile are exposed.
• Decennials L1/L2 policy fails closed for unsupported deeper levels.
• Receipt metadata and OpenAPI contract assertions are present.
• Package, REST, standards, validation, release, and compatibility records are release-gated.

The Valens distribution interpretation layer is a separate admission project. It does not block Free/Enhanced launch if it remains absent from their schemas.

2. Ship Free Hellenistic essentials

• Add the public route, typed composition adapter, source/method drawer, frozen current-period snapshot, accessible presentation, and honest failure states.
• Do not advertise Enhanced timing until its server entitlement paths exist.

3. Ship Enhanced continuity

• Add persistent dossiers, full personal timelines, date comparison, exports, and reminders.
• Add storage migrations only when persistence begins and isolate them from concurrent unrelated website schema work.

4. Extend Urania Workspace

• Add the full Hellenistic/Traditional practice mode to existing inspectors, timelines, chart library, primary directions, imports, conversation, and research memory.
• Add case compositions, bounded electional scans, batches, reusable policies, and audit receipts incrementally behind server-enforced capabilities.

5. Observe and harden

• Observe reliability, response size, and use for at least 30 days.
• Tune batching, caching, limits, and presentation only. Engagement metrics do not authorize doctrine changes, hidden defaults, scoring, or stronger claims.

• Every admitted engine computation in scope has a tested atomic REST path or an explicit documented deferral.
• Self-hosted REST starts and operates without any hosted entitlement service.
• OpenAPI accounts for every request selector, response receipt, failure type, and admitted route.
• Whole-sign aspect direction/overcoming match their engine truth exactly.
• Decennials levels and deep methods reject unsupported combinations explicitly; serializers preserve the chosen method.
• The dignity timelord-distribution option is either functional with supplied evidence or absent from the public contract.
• No Valens distribution field is exposed until its source, policy, semantics, tests, and transport all pass an admission review.
• Focused unit/server/public-surface tests run first, followed by the complete deterministic non-network suite, documentation consistency, package build, artifact inspection, and twine check, all with the project .venv.

Hosted website

• Entitlement tests prove Free < Enhanced < Workspace and Workspace inheritance.
• Unauthorized rejections occur before parsing, engine work, storage, or export.
• Given the same input, engine, kernel, and policy, all tiers return identical atomic truth.
• DE440/DE441 differences are isolated as kernel/resource differences and never alter a doctrine selector.
• Every composition equals its recorded atomic components.
• Schema/copy tests reject Firdaria, Sahl, Ramesey, or Lilly content labelled Hellenistic.
• Selectors for sect, bounds, face, triplicity, lot reversal, releasing lot, time policy, direction method/key, and direct/converse mode remain visible.

Explicit non-products and deferrals

• Tier-dependent formulas, doctrine, source visibility, or failure reasons.
• Prognostic certainty, life advice, promised outcomes, or medical/financial decision guidance.
• A universal best-election finder or unbounded electional search.
• Hidden selectors, silent fallback, or AI-invented doctrine.
• Firdaria marketed as Hellenistic, or Sahl/Lilly rules marketed as ancient.
• DE441 marketed as spiritually superior or secret premium accuracy.
• Longevity as life-expectancy or death prediction.
• Triacontaeteris without recovered and admitted first-principles doctrine.
• Hephaistio L4, which is not admitted.
• Triplicity doctrine comparison until more than the single admitted Dorothean doctrine exists.
• Teams, white-labelling, or unlimited automation as launch requirements.

Launch measures

Hard targets:

• Zero tier-dependent atomic computation differences under an identical frozen request and resource profile.
• Zero lineage, private-data, invented-score, or hidden-selector contract leaks.
• At least 99.5% successful Free essentials requests.
• Free essentials p95 below 3 seconds.
• Enhanced personal timeline p95 below 8 seconds; otherwise use an asynchronous job with a durable receipt.
• Workspace scans and batches always obey published hard ceilings and never run as unbounded synchronous work.

Privacy-safe product measures may include completed essentials snapshots, method/source drawer use, saved dossiers, timeline composition, policy switches, exports, alerts, candidate comparisons, Workspace case/batch use, and conversion between tiers. These measures may improve workflow and presentation only.
