The Mending enchantment is a Tier 0 vanilla enchantment. It has a maximum level of 1. When applied to any item with durability, it will repair your item as you take in XP orbs. This includes killing creatures, fishing, breaking XP bottles; Any action that grants you XP orbs. It cannot be obtained from villager trading. It can also be obtained from salvaging equipment with the Mending enchantment already applied, or by fishing up a random enchanted book with mending as one of the enchantments.

This enchantment can be obtained in book form from the following sources with the corresponding drop rates;

• Iron Golem - (1/250) (0.4% / kill)
• Wither - (1/15) (6.667% / kill)
• White Gift - (7.5% / gift)
• Red Gift - (7.5% / gift)
• Orange Gift - (7.0% / gift)
• Yellow Gift - (8.0% / gift)
• Green Gift - (6.1% / gift)
• Blue Gift - (6.5% / gift)
• Purple Gift - (6.5% / gift)

Mending is exempt from the 5 max rule, as it is a vanilla enchantment.
