[BOSS] Gritch, the Mutated Rat - TheCashFire/Realm-of-Aureus GitHub Wiki
"While I'm not sure what caused the mutation, I do know that this is one powerful rat."
Gritch is the boss of the Sirrus Sewers. By giving a Rusty Key to Ozrin, the player will be able to challenge Gritch. He will drop a Rusty Crate upon death.
Gritch has 300 health (150 hearts). He only takes half knockback, but otherwise has no specific weaknesses or resistances unlike other bosses (and some enemies). He moves at a slightly faster speed than many other mobs, but can still be outpaced.
Gritch has two close range attacks which both deal 12 damage (6 hearts). The first attack is a simple punch that damages players in front of him, and the second is a tail swoop that damages players in a circle around him and deals heavy knockback. He also has several ranged attacks. Gritch can fire his crossbow, dealing 5 damage on a hit, or 2.5 hearts. He is also able to throw a poison cask at players close to him that releases a poison cloud when it lands on the ground. The poison cloud deals 6 damage (3 hearts) and inflicts Poison 2 for 5 seconds on players caught in it.
Summon Rats
When reduced to 80%, 50%, and 20% of his max health, Gritch will summon four Sewer Rats to fight alongside him.
Tips and Tricks
As the first boss players are expected to fight, Gritch is the easiest by far. He has no damage resistances, weaknesses, or immunities, which means all forms of damage can provide some sort of benefit. Therefore, it is recommended to bring the best weapon you have, or at the very least one you're comfortable with.
Gritch is not terribly fast, so boots with Sonic can allow you to outspeed him and stay out of range of his powerful melee attacks. His ranged attacks are still a threat, though it is unlikely you will get hit by the poison cask if you are far enough away, and the arrows can be dodged relatively easily. Having Elemental Protection on your armor can help reduce the risk of getting overwhelmed by the poison damage caused by his cask attack if you do get hit by it. Furthermore, the arena is quite dark like the rest of the sewers, so having Sight on your helmet is a requirement as torches cannot be placed in the arena.
His summoned enemies are only on certain health thresholds, so they can be planned for in advance. They do not pose much of a threat on their own, but if you are not careful they could overwhelm you and throw off your plans. Sewer Rats are hardly the most powerful enemy, so killing them when they pop up is a good idea.
