[!] Key Server Mechanics (WIP) - TheCashFire/Realm-of-Aureus GitHub Wiki

The Realm of Aureus is a vanilla-lite experience that intends to change the game to make it more fun and interactive than vanilla, while also not being a complete overhaul of many beloved vanilla standards. There are a number of game mechanics that are not explained directly in game- this page is meant to get newer players up to speed on some of the more common areas of confusion, as well as provide a possible idea of what to do.

Three Worlds

When you first join the server, you will be placed inside of a cave on the floating island of Sirrus. Sirrus acts as a hub world, a place for people to trade with other players and NPCs alike. On it's own, Sirrus doesn't provide much activity for the player other than the Agility Course. The player can talk to Wylliam to travel to the two other worlds. (If you are having difficulty finding Wylliam, /spawn will typically place the player no more than a few seconds from him)

Emera is the main survival world players will find themselves spending most of their time on. It is most similar to Vanilla Minecraft, where players can explore the wilderness, build a base, and gather resources. (If you are having difficulty finding new land, /rtp will bring you to a random place in the wild) (WIP, add more information about Emera)

Krevas is the third world, and provides a place for players to gain rare resources and drops in the form of dungeons. On the lower level of the crater town, players can find a lift which will take them down to the crystal caverns. These cavers provide an abundant source of ore, and a variety of hostile mobs which can drop a wider variety of both mundane and magical resources. In a secluded corner of these caverns, players will find a gate which cannot be entered without the corresponding key. Upon providing the key, the player can fight a boss to gain valuable drops. It is important to note that these bosses can be extremely challenging, and even attempting these bosses generally requires high-end gear and a number of buffs. More importantly is that the player's health will NOT naturally regenerate during these boss fights, requiring potions or other means of restoring health. (WIP add links to boss pages with tips and tricks)

Rare Items

While playing on The Realm of Aureus, you may notice that upon completing certain actions (such as mining blocks, slaying mobs, and opening loot crates) that there are some unique items that will drop. These items are not in vanilla Minecraft and are rare loot that has a low chance of dropping. This loot has a number of ranks (WIP, list ranks here). A core mechanic in the server is utilizing these rare drops by either directly modifying them or breaking them down into raw materials. For example, when mining Nether Quartz Ore, there is a chance the player will receive a Quartz Pickaxe. This item is a green T1 item, meaning it can be broken down into Stygian Iron.

Any rare drop can be freely modified, having enchantments added or repairing and combining with other tools. However, it is important to note than once a rare drop has been modified in any (WIP, does this include repairing to full durability?) way, it can no longer be broken down into raw materials. Players are free to add enchantments to items without risking issues, and any rare drops that happen to be vanilla Diamond can be safely upgraded to Netherite.

The raw materials gained from breaking down rare items have a unique set of uses, including crafting recipes and NPC purchases. Generally, more valuable materials allow for the creation or purchase of more valuable equipment. One important merchant that frequently utilizes these rare materials is the Wandering Trader
