Running Alice in Different Languages - TheAliceProject/alice2 GitHub Wiki

Alice 2 has included translations of the interface for Arabic, German, Portuguese, and Spanish within the base installation of Alice. These translations do not include the tutorial or the gallery assets. We do provide a fully translated version in Spanish that includes these. To access that version you will need to download the separate Spanish version of the application from the download page. To change the interface language follow these steps:

  1. Start Alice 2 and select a template from the opening dialog box.
  2. Select Edit in the menu bar.
  3. Select Preferences.
  4. In the popup window, click the display language box and select the language from the pull-down menu
  5. A popup window asks you to Restart Alice. Click Restart button. Alice will automatically restart and the display will be in the selected language.

If Language Selection doesn't work on Alice 2.6 on a Windows machine:

User may not have permissions to make any changes to the Program Files directory if it is a computer managed by a school or company. Try to install or drag Alice 2.6 to a different directory (eg. Desktop) instead of Program Files. OR delete the file named first_run.txt in the ETC directory. THEN try to change the language preference again.
