Make sure you have CFW installed or else this won't work!

This works for both cartridge and downloaded games, but they have different methods. You can find guides to both below.

Cartridge

  1. Open Godmode9 by holding START then turning on the console.

  2. Select GAMECART then the trim.3ds file and press A.

  3. Go to step 2

Downloads

  1. Open FBI and go to Titles.

  2. Look for your game and write down the last 8 characters of the title id.

  3. Open Godmode9 by holding START then turning on the console.

  4. Open SYSNAND SD/title/00040000/(title id you wrote down earlier)/content and press A on the biggest .app file.

  5. Go to step 2

Step 2

  1. Select NCSD image options then Build CIA from file. (This might take a while)

  2. Once that's done go back to the beginning and open SD CARD/gm9/out.

  3. Select your CIA file and press A, select CIA image files, mount image to drive.

  4. Press A.

  5. Open the first folder.

  6. Select romfs and press L, then Y.

  7. Go back to SD CARD/gm9/out and press Y.

  8. Go back to the beginning, hold R, and press START. This should turn off your 3ds.

  9. Put the SD card in your computer, go to gm9/out and there is your romfs.
