How do I contribute to the Albiorix wiki - The-Bioinformatics-Group/Albiorix GitHub Wiki
So, you have just figured out how to get a particular analysis to work, and you now know something the rest of us don't. Great, let's share it with everyone in a way you get credit for your work.
- Go to the Github login page, and create an account, if you have not already done so.
- Create a new repository by clicking the green button labeled "+ New Repository". A good name for your new repository could be e.g. "Tutorials", but you can call it anything you like.
- You'll find a link to the wiki pages of your new repository on the right side of the page. Once on the wiki, click the "Create the first page" button, and start edit the front page of your wiki or leave it as it is, your choice. Save the page and admire your wiki front page. Next, lets fill the wiki with some tutorials.
- Now, click the "New Page" button and start writing your tutorial. Once finished, copy the URL of the page and add a link to it on the Albiorix tutorial page. Also, you might want to add a link on your own wiki front page as well.
That's it. From now on, everyone using Albiorix can gain from your experience while every page click, google search or twitter comment will refer back to your Github account. All the credit to you!
One last thing. Don't forget to update the "Misc. publications" section of your CV when you are done.
(If you think the instructions on this page could be improved, then edit them to your liking. Thanks!)
