Wordward Stylus

Wondrous item, rare (requires attunement)

This featureless pen draws from your creativity, but most importantly it draws your breath. Using this Stylus, you can cast Illusory Script at will, instantaneously and without expending spell slots or material components. The duration of this spell is permanent, until dispelled. If you use the Stylus as a spellcasting focus, whenever you cast an illusion spell, roll a d4. On a 4, you do not expend a spell slot.

Additionally, after spending 10 minutes channeling, you may write a rune onto a lifeless surface no bigger than 5 by 5 feet, such as that of a floor, door or chest. A creature takes 1d8 psychic damage whenever it touches the surface without your permission. A rune lasts for 1 hour or until a new rune is created.
