The Holy Apple
Wondrous item, legendary (requires attunement)
The Holy Apple is a golden, apple-shaped, arcane grenade. The outside of the Holy Apple is decorated with five different holy sigils, corresponding to: Benevolence, Enlightenment, Solidarity, Piety and Effort. The Holy Apple is only effective against evil creatures and does not affect non-evil creatures. The Holy Apple holds the following five options which you can use by pressing its respective sigil. After pressing a sigil, you can’t use the Apple again before waiting until dawn.
Benevolence. As an action, you command the Holy Apple to release golden shrapnel upon being thrown or at a specified point in time within the next hour. Once it bursts, all evil creatures within 20 feet of the Apple have to make a Dexterity saving throw. On a failed save, the creature takes 6d10 magical piercing damage or half as much on a success.
Enlightenment. As an action, you cause the Holy Apple to emit its brightest light. All evil creatures within 30 of the Apple feet are blinded for the duration of one minute. In addition, affected targets have to succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw or be stunned until the end of their next turn.
Solidarity. As a bonus action, you can cast the ‘Spirit Guardians’ spell at 6th level by throwing the Holy Apple to a space within 60 feet of you, dealing radiant damage to all evil creatures within range.
Piety. As an action, you cause the Holy Apple to emit a mist in a 20 feet radius, centered on wherever the Apple lands. To evil creatures, the mist counts as magical darkness. Non-evil creatures receive a +10 on stealth checks and gain advantage on attack rolls against evil creatures within the mist.
Effort. As an action, you cause the Holy Apple to glow and emit a comforting heat in a 10 feet radius. All non-evil creatures within range regain 4d6 hit points and half as many temporary hit points that last until depleted.
Lore
It is said that the Holy Apple was created at the hands of the high priests of the five dominant religions on the Dyscaert plane. The high priests shared a similar vision about the coming of an all-consuming darkness. It is rather unclear what was prophesized precisely, but at the conclave of Izharek, they all agreed to take precautionary measures. As such, these five pious priests forged a magical weapon, powerful enough to hold its own against the dangers they foresaw.
