Description of faction
Operating in the shadows, and dependent on guile and subterfuge, the Resistance is one of the few organizations in Epror to truly attempt to challenge Alfonze’s rule. While other figures and organizations find ways to operate in a system that in which the King’s leadership is treated as an immovable status quo, the Resistance seeks to break that mould. Through doing so, they have come to be an increasingly fringe organization, isolated from much of the rest of Goldward’s panache of interlocking factions. Yet the potential reach of the Resistance is not clear to all, and their challenge to power might prove to be greater than previously expected. Those who would discount the organization as yet another group of noble though naïve rebels do so at their own peril. Yet the organization itself is thought to be deeply divided by rival methods, means and measures to arrive at their goals, assuming that the leadership can even agree on such a set of objectives.

The Resistance is wary in recruiting new members to its ranks, since doing so might lay open their covert organization to infiltration by those loyal to the regime. As such, the Resistance generally only allows those that have previously perpetrated clear and undoubted acts of rebellion against the regime of Alfonze II or affiliated allies into its membership. Even when contact is made with a local cell of the Resistance, they treat their newfound allies warily, mortally afraid of double agents. As such, the organization is strongly decentralized, and local cells have no knowledge who inhabit other cells in the region. Only by displaying truly unwavering loyalty to the organization can its higher ranks, and thereby the structure of its cells, be definitively revealed to a hardened Resistance member.

Recent events involving the Resistance
Although the regime has maintained that the activities of the Resistance had all but petered out, recent events have proven that the organization still constitutes a force to be reckoned with, especially in the region of Goldward. The seas surrounding the region, already affected by the presence of elements from both the Peterszoon Company and the Shoalbaron Pirates, have additionally been troubled by activities from the Resistance. Preying on merchant coasters loyal to the regime, which are ferrying much needed materials to and fro the large cities of Goldward, rebel ships have sought to finance the Resistance’s continuance by reliance on piracy. Growing even more brazenly, elements of the organization have allegedly attacked small shantytowns on the region’s coasts. In one such incidence, members of the Resistance have burned to ground a building affiliated with the trade guild, after being caught red-handed while attempting to fence stolen supplies. Having had a small number of their ranks being caught and apprehended, the rebels then mounted an audacious attack on the local seat of government in order to spring their own from prison. In doing so they dispatched ruthlessly with the local jail-warden, freed their comrades and threw the entire shantytown in other chaos when escaping to their ship.
