Loaded Illusion

Weapon (any ranged), rare (requires attunement)

Where one piece of ammunition is loaded, a whole volley is fired into the direction an unsuspecting foe. While most projectiles are mere illusions, the real hit strikes vile and true.

While attuned, this weapon holds a maximum of 20 charges. Before making an attack roll, you can expend any number of charges. After expending any number of charges, that many spectral copies appear along the projectile once fired.

For every two spectral projectiles fired at the target, the creature gains a -1 penalty on their Armor Class against the attack. If the target does not succeed on a Wisdom saving throw equal to 10 + the number of charges expended, it cannot see the attack.

At dawn, the weapon regain 2d6+2 charges.
