Farrukh

Lean, surreptitious and agile, the Farrukh are known for their beauty and grace, along with their indomitable intelligence. Often seen as having the best of both worlds, brains and elegance, these fine birds stand out wherever they go. Despite their numbers dwindling rapidly, this proud race has built a legacy set to endure.

Elegant and Impressive

The slender and graceful birds known as Farrukh use their long legs to their advantage in even the most banal of situations. Contrary to the very similar Aaracockra race, the Farrukh is unable to fly, despite possessing a set of wings. Their wings are not built for strength as much as they are for glamour, donning newfound shades of black and white so intricate and subtle that they are likely to go unnoticed by the general public. Although the skies are beyond their physical capabilities, they are very quick and agile in their ways. Through quick sudden sprints and movements, they can surprise their friends and foes alike. Farrukh are in possession of a long and thin beak that can range from being straight as an arrow to curved and curly, depending on their ancestry. As a result of the inability to fly, the Farrukh feathers are incredibly soft and well-isolated instead, bringing them comfort wherever they go. Their imposing and tall build gets others to - literally - look up to them, furtherly reinforcing an inherent craving for admiration. At the end of the day, almost all Farrukh want to be awed by others.

Competitive Culture

Their innate desire to feel admired renders Farrukh to become each other’s rivals. While most of them would not actively seek to hinder their kin, their pride also keeps them from aiding their relatives too much. In their rich and magical culture, Farrukh constantly challenge each other to assert dominance over the social structures. They invent puzzles to sharpen and test their friends’ intellect, gloating as they themselves revel in every petty victory. Not only do they put their famed cognitive abilities to the test, they also battle each other based on their physical prowess. Within Farrukh networks, annual competitions are being held to stroke their egos while at the same time sharpening their wits and honing their skills. With other races, Farrukh don’t really feel the need to prove that they are the superior being. Farrukh are wildly interested in other civilizations and cultures instead, satisfying their unending curiosity by asking incredible amounts of questions and trying to understand their ways of life. To Farrukh, there has to be a deeper meaning behind life, magic and spirituality. They set out to explore the continent on their own to try and solve the universal riddles of being, all-important and omnipotent answers they were nurtured to believe in finding. Their somewhat individualistic nature, paired with the tempation of solistic life and their high standards, make finding a suitable partner hard for the Farrukh. With their numbers decreasing, the Farrukh society is destined to go extinct in time if they continue their competitive behavior.

Esteemed Advisors

When among other cultures, the Farrukh usually take on the role of teachers and scholars, educating others on the things they’ve seen and the theories they’ve come up with. They are incredibly apt at integrating with different cultures, as their high intelligence and thirst for knowledge make them valuable additions to advisory organs. While refraining from specializing in a specific field of study, the Farrukh are true generalists, willing to learn from everything and everyone around them. Their multi-faceted approach to solving problems make them worthy opponents and powerful allies, but their need for approval can prove them to be difficult as well. Through their widespread experience, the Farrukh learned to utilize the magical world as well. This enables them to be trained as mages fairly easily, proving time and again their versatility of knowledge. However, through their extensive history at the side of notable and influential people, they gained a reputation of being self-serving and abusive of their positions. While this is certainly not the case for all Farrukh, some of them see fit to drag their entire race through the mud to prove their worth and get the admiration they think they deserve.
