Crimson Spellscroll

Wondrous item (scroll), varies

This red piece of parchment holds any one spell that has been transcribed onto it by a Crimson Quill. The spell can be cast by anyone, regardless of whether or not they have the spellcasting feature, without expending spell slots or material components. While casting the spell, you use the spell attack bonus and the spell save DC of the creature that transcribed it. Anyone that casts a spell this way - other than the original transcriber - takes 1d10 psychic damage for each level of the spell, before it is able to take effect.

If you use more than three Spellscrolls before finishing a long rest, you gain two points of exhaustion for each usage thereafter. Once used, a Spellscroll fully disintegrates.

Lore

Produced by the arcane ink that flows through a Crimson Quill, a Crimson Spellscroll allows even the uninitiated to harness any transcribed spell - for a cost.
