Summary

jgfs_genesis.ecf is listed in the v17 ECF script manifest but does not exist on disk in the current dev/gfs.v17 worktree. This script traditionally runs the tropical cyclone genesis tracker (TRAK algorithm) to detect and report developing tropical systems from GFS forecast output. It may have been removed, renamed, or is planned for a future commit.

Notes

  • The script was expected at ecf/scripts/gfs/verf/atmos/jgfs_genesis.ecf.
  • Only jgfs_vminmon.ecf exists in the gfs/verf/atmos/ directory.
  • Hercules platform notes indicate the TC Tracker is not currently supported.
  • This may correlate with the tracker being disabled or under development in v17.
