[EN] Upgrading from 0.7 to 0.9 - TerraFirmaGreg-Team/Modpack-Modern GitHub Wiki
Please remember to create a new instance of TFG and copy your world across into it, instead of upgrading it in-place! This is both safer, and also lets you preview your upgraded world, so you can go back and prepare it better.
Worlds from 0.7 should be mostly safe to upgrade to 0.9, but there are a few things you should know:
- GregTech has removed all of its kinetic machines. If you're using kinetic input hatches, kinetic mixers, gear boxes (the GT kind, not the Create kind), or the alternator, these will all disappear when upgrading, so you should recycle them in an arc furnace or macerator first.
- 0.9 uses Greate, a Create addon that adds GregTech tiering to its mechanical components, so you'll have to replace any Create contraptions with equivalent versions. All of the old Create items are convertible to their Greate equivalents by placing them in a crafting grid. Greate's components have stress capacities so you may have to redo any large Create setups too. The GregTech Alternator and Gear Box can be replaced with Create: Additions' Alternator and Electric Motor.
- Several ingots, plates, and raw ores have been changed to use a different item instead of the GregTech generated ones. These items have a "REPLACE ME" texture, and you can put them in a crafting grid to change them to the new versions.
- Tree taps have changed to use ArborFirmaCraft instead. You should be able to replace your old taps with the new ones by putting them in a crafting grid and collecting latex in a wooden barrel instead of a bucket. The mechanics around when trees are tappable have changed too, check the field guide for more information -- there's several new tappable trees that you can use to get sticky resin now that may be more suitable for your climate.
- Early quest chapters have been completely overhauled, so if losing your "progress" is something you care about, you can force-complete the quests by turning on cheats, then clicking the pencil on the bottom right of the quest screen, and right-clicking > Force Complete on the quests or chapters.
If you're in the middle of the steam age, we strongly recommend getting into LV before upgrading, as the steam age progression has been significantly changed.
