Asteroid Scanner
Analyze the surface and inner structure of an asteroid by hyper-spectral imaging and CT Scanning by utilizing an organized swarm robot asteroid scanner.
Sensors
- Hyperspectral sensors and LiDAR are used for scanning the surface of the asteroid identifying materials.
- A CT Scanner is used to map the interior of an asteroid revealing its composition and material distribution.
- Ground sounding equipment for further asteroid composure examination.
Scanning process
- Mother-ship (Hive) aligns with the asteroid's rotation axis without synchronizing its rotation resulting in the asteroid rotating in front of the Hive
- Swarm robots equipped with aforementioned sensors are deployed forming a ring large enough to go over the asteroid. Once the ring shape is stabilized it starts to move over the rotating asteroid acting as a ct/surface 3D scanner mapping the entire asteroid in a single pass.
- Should further information is needed, swarm robots can land on on the asteroid and using sounding equipment map the interior of the asteroid.
