Overview

Image of an M151A2

The M151 is a 4x4 utility vehicle designed by the Ford Motor Company starting in 1951 and entering service in the early 1960s. There are three primary variants: the M151, M151A1, and M151A2. A wide variety of subvariants exist for almost any conceivable situation, including more notably the M151A1D, which is modified to mount the Davy Crockett Atomic Warhead Launcher.

Rationales

  1. Based on [1] and [2], it appears the maximum possible road speed is 65 mph (104.6 km/h). However, it seems unlikely the vehicle would be driven at this speed for extended periods, especially with a heavy payload. Therefore, 55 mph (88.5 km/h) seems like a good realistic maximum road speed in battlefield conditions. This agrees with the stated maximum speed in [3].

  2. There are no readily available sources for maximum off-road speeds, but the M151 is known to be an effective off-road vehicle. Therefore a generous off-road speed of 35 mph (56.3 km/h) was chosen.

  3. The M151 is very small and easily concealable, meeting the requirements for a "Good" stealth rating per the established standard.

  4. The non-recon M151 variants feature a cab with a high degree of visibility, meeting the requirements for a "Normal" rating per the established standard, and the recon M151 similarly meets the requirements for a "Good" rating.
