Go to Making the Vibratory Conveyor Parts for information on how to build the following parts:
- Angle 2 in by 1-8 in thick
- Angle 3-4 in by 1-8 in thick
- Shaft Collar
- Leaf Spring
- Threaded Rod 1-2in 12 in long
- Hopper for Starve Feeder
- Vibratory Conveyor Mounting Bar Weldment
Assembly Steps
Step 1: Attach the handle to the adjustable pipe clamp. First press a 1/4 in bolt into the thumbnut using a vice (or hammer with light taps) and a short section of pipe. Then place a washer on the protruding end of the bolt and screw it into the clamp. Note: The video shows a nut and washer on the clamp. These are unnecessary as one tab of the clamp should be tapped.
Step 2: Press M3 Nuts into the nut traps on the Square Tube to Leaf Spring Couplers. Add an M3 socket cap screw and washer but don't tighten. Slide the couplers onto the square tube with the correct orientation. They will be adjusted later.
Step 3: Press the 3/4 in. angle and the 2 in. angle into the vee transition. Make sure that the edges of the aluminum angles mate well. Secure the angles into place with a bit of hot glue on the under side. If there is a small gap where the two pieces of aluminum meet, plastic flakes will get trapped there. Fix this by filling the crack with epoxy or super glue then sanding or filing smooth.
Step 4: Press the shaft collar onto the motor shaft. If it isn't a tight fit, it may be possible to reduce the size of the hole by hitting the flat face of the collar a few times with a hammer. If this doesn't work, a set screw may be necessary.
Step 5: Attach the motor to the mount. Make sure that the screws do not protrude or they will crash into the 2 in angle later on.
Step 6: Slide two angle to leaf spring couplers and the vibrator motor mount onto the 2 in angle as shown.
Step 7: Attach 3 leaf springs to each leaf spring coupler as shown. Depending on the stiffness of your spring metal you may have to adjust the number.
Step 8: Attach the end cap to the 2 in angle using 4 sheet metal screws.
Step 9: Attach the lower side of the leaf springs to the mounting bar as shown in the video. It may be necessary to adjust the positions of the various clamps.
Step 10: Attach the 1/2 in. threaded rod to the mounting bar with two nuts and two washers.
Step 11: Attach the hopper mounts to the hopper using M3 fasteners.
Step 12: Attach the hopper to the threaded rod using four 1/2 in. nuts and eight 1/2 in. washers. You will have to adjust the nuts little by little until the hopper is in position. The hopper opening should be about 1/2 in below the edge of the 2 in angle.
The vibratory conveyor is now complete.
