Extruder Stand

Note: The electronics enclosure is being split into two, so the controller mount and supports may not be necessary any more. Also the Drying hopper interferes with the fume hood. The fume hood will need to be redesigned.

Assembly

Assembly Steps

Step 1: Put the 1/2 in tap bolts in place as the feet of the stand. Threaded rod can be used if you can't find tap bolts. Tap bolts are easier to adjust though.

Step 2: Put the M4 screws and spacers in place on the controller mount. Only finger tight as these will have to be removed when it comes time to add the controller box during the final assembly.

Step3: Press the 1/4 in bolts into the printed thumbnuts using a piece of pipe and a vice (or hammer with gentle taps). Then screw the bots into the controller support arm but don't tighten them down.

Step 4: Use two pipe wrenches (or a pipe wrench and vice) to attach a 3/4 in coupler and nipple onto the controller support. Place these into one end of the controller support arm and then add a 1/4 in end cap to trap the controller support in place.

Step 5: Use two pipe wrenches to couple a 3/4 in nipple, a 3/4 in to 1 in adapter and a 1 in nipple.

Step 6: Attach the 1 in nipple to the extruder stand using two U-bolts.

Step 7: Put the controller support arm over the 3/4 in nipple and then trap it in place with a 3/4 in end cap.

Step 8: Bolt the split rings, extruder spacer, and fume hood base into position using 3/8 in bolts.

Step 9: Bolt the fume hood face into position with m3 bolts.

Step 10: Put the fume hood top into position. Drill pilot holes for the sheet metal screws in the fume hood base and then attach the fume hood top.

The extruder stand is now complete.
