AWS Cloud Server Setup (EC2)

• Go to https://aws.amazon.com/
• Create a Login for AWS
• Go to Services up in the left hand corner
• Click on EC2
• On the left hand side you will see "instances" click on it
• Along the top you will see a blue button that says "Launch Instant" click on it
• Find the Amazon Machine Image (AMI) you want
• Click on select on the left hand side
• Choose the Instance Type
• Configure the Instance you selected
• Add the storage you will need
• Tag your instance
• Configure your security group and make a key
• Review all of the information you inserted and launch your instance
• Your instance should now be running when you select instances on the left hand side

Shutting Down Your Instances

• When your instance is running it is charging you money
• In order to shut it down you must press Actions at the top of the page
• Hover over "Instance State" and select "Stop"
• Your instance should now stop and it will no longer charge you money

IMPORTANT / OTHER

• You can create as many instances as you would like
• Your instance must be running when you want to work on it

Checking Your Balance

• You can check your balance at any time by clicking on "your name" in the top left hand corner
• Select "Billing & Cost Management"
• Select "Bills" on the right hand side
• This is your Billing Summary
