Overview

This wiki page describes the game mechanics for the TSK Gotcha game. This game is a completely free-to-play, community driven, gotcha-like. The main goal of the game is to assemble a team of characters to your liking. The game features a large, ever-expanding catalogue of characters.

Uses of Koins

There are two types of currency used in the game: Kremkoins and Premium Koins, collectively referred to as Koins. There are many ways for players to obtain and spend Koins. Each player starts with 50 Kremkoins.

Pulling characters

A player can spend five (5) Koins to pull for a new character. If the player has empty slots in their roster, pulling a new character will add the character to their roster. If a player does not have empty slots, then after the new character is pulled, the player has the option to replace one of their existing characters or discard the new character. This decision can be made after the character is revealed.

Banners

Periodically there will be special banners that have increased rates for certain characters. Pulling on these banners cost Premium Koins.

Expanding Roster

Each player starts with a max roster size of zero (0). Players can spend Koins to expand the number of characters on their roster. The upgrades come at an increased cost of Kremkoins

Trading

Players can trade characters and Koins with other players. Players can offer trades to other players. They can offer a number of their characters in exchange for a number of the other player's characters. Koins can be offered on either side of the trade.

Characters

The character catalogue is intended to be a large roster spanning many series that is representative of the playerbase's interests. The game will start with an initial catalogue of characters, but players can propose new character to be added into the game.

Rarity

The rarity of a character is generally a measure of how valuable or sought after they are. The rarities range from 1-star to 5-start. The base rates and the names for each rarity are shown below.

1 30%
2 25%
3 22%

Criteria for Characters

There should be a wide variety of characters in the game, but there also should be limitations on what characters can and cannot get in. Currently, the criteria is that they must be animated or drawn in some capacity. This could include characters from tv, movies, games, or comics. Aang, Mario, or Spiderman are all examples of characters that are fair game. Characters like Walter White who only appear in live action are not allowed. The strictness of this criteria is open for discussion. Should Homelander who is predominantly a live action character with comic book origins be allowed? Should Arthur Morgan who is technically animated but is rendered realistically be allowed?

Seasons

The criteria above only applies to the current version of the game. In the future we may decide to reset the game. If that happens, it is likely that we will decide to start with a new catalogue of characters with a different set of criteria. Note that resetting seasons is not necessarily planned. It may be something that occurs if the game becomes stale. To justify a season reset, there must be some changes to the game. This could be some new game-altering feature or simply a different catalogue of characters. For example, maybe we decide in the next season to pull for characters inspired by group inside jokes rather than existing franchise characters.

Alternative Characters

Alternative holiday versions of characters are planned to be added to the game at the art team's discretion. These characters may be suggested by other players but will ultimately be decided by the art team. These characters will appear on special banners for a limited time.

Proposing New Characters

Players can propose new characters to be added into the game. Once a character is proposed other players can vote to accept or reject them. Players can also vote on what they think the rarity should be.

Once a character is proposed, the character will be voted on within the span of a week. A character gets accepted if at least half of the votes are approving. The rarity of an approved character is determined by a rounded average of the rarity votes. Players that voted to approve that character have their rarity votes weighted higher.

Players are rewarded for proposing an accepted character. They will receive 5 Kremkoins and 1 Premium Koin. Players are also rewarded for

Wishlists

Players can set characters to be on their wishlist. When players pull characters on others' wishlists, they can see who wants them. Players can also opt to get notified when a character on their wishlist is pulled.
