Annual Personal Evaluations - TREC-Agroecology/lab-wiki GitHub Wiki

Each year you will have an evaluation or two for professional development and reporting purposes. Student evaluations are due to the AGR department (Mar 15). Everyone should complete a personal evaluation and accomplishments reporting for me (Dec 15). The personal evaluation is meant to reflect on the effectiveness and productivity of your work. At a personal level, the evaluation is meant as an opportunity to reflect on goals and progress throughout the year and previous years. We will take a weekly meeting in December to discuss your evaluation. The evaluation and meeting should be helpful to you to think about what you want to get out of working in the Agroecology lab and will also help me be a better mentor.

Evaluation Questions

Personal Reflection

  • When do you think you will be completing this phase of your training/employment? (This puts in perspective how much time you have to complete your tasks to achieve your goals.)
  • What type of job do you currently see yourself in next? (This helps focus in on what kind of things you should be doing.)
  • Given the type of job you want, what do you think you need to do to be successful? (These are what we will call your goals.)
  • What did you accomplish this year towards accomplishing your goals? (Describe the highlights of your list of accomplishments.)
  • What are your plans for next year for working towards your goals? (Be as specific as you can be. Are there particular projects you plan to start/finish? Is there specific training or experiences you think you need to succeed in reaching your goals?)
  • What could Zack and the lab be doing better to help you maintain a positive work environment and meet your goals?
