Overview - TInyBoards/TInyBoards GitHub Wiki

Welcome to the TIny Board Ecosystem. This page and it's content is not an official branch of Texas Instruments.

**The goal of a TIny Board is to provide a plug and play system that **

    • Does not require Soldering or Wiring
    • No Programming is required to use the board
    • Serves a unique purpose or function
    • Plugs into other TIny Boards to create a circuit/ application through a common established Pin-Out.

The hope is to create/contribute an ecosystem that allows the show case of TI products, (Power, Analog, Connectivity and Microcontroller) to build interesting and larger circuits. In essence TIny Boards are evaluation modules that talk to each other!

Reminder this is NOT an official Texas Instruments product and instead is a side project that is being run by the TI University Program.

TIny Board is an internal project to TI's University Program working in conjunction with TI's Talent Development Team. This internal project is to provide a learning environment for TI's new hire engineering talent that emulates the design experience of a customer using TI products. The limited features, small scale and open source frame work is used to create a manageable environment that exposes new hires to real-world issues; using hands on experiential learning. However, TIny Board is open to any contributions, just as long as the designs adhere to the charter and use TI products!

The output of TIny Board project can be broken down into four distinct stages:

#1: CONCEPT: Ideas and initial Design Stage- This is where the TIny board is designed and drawn out. Skills established are: Project Management and Scoping of Projects.
Output Expected: An overview pitch of the design constraints and block diagram. Folder is created in the CONCEPT Stage. Inside of the folder the following is required- Project Proposal Sheet Marketing Concept Sheet Budget Sheet Block Diagram

#2: PROJECT: This section contains Part Selection, PCB Design and Prototype Manufacture- This is where the block diagram is realized and adhered to. Skills Established: Part Selection, PCB Design, Documentation Output Expected: The folder in the CONCEPT Folder is moved to the PROTOTYPE FOLDER. The following files will be added: Bill of Materials with DigiKey Costs Eagle PCB Schematic and Design Design Notes and Considerations Manufacturing Plan

#3: PROPOGATE: This is where the marketing and business case is made. This is where the TIny board is tested to see if it works within the intended specifications and adheres to design requirements. It is also in this stage discussion of pricing ill occur. Pricing will affect it's production ability as well as the marketing plan. Suggested Pricing is (2x the Production Costs). Skills Established: Sales, Marketing, Pricing, Design Review and Testing Output Expected: The folder will move from the PROJECT category to the PROPAGATE category. It is in this stage we will put the TIny Board on the Wiki-Page as PRODUCTION candidates (the next stage). Documents to be added: Photos of the product. Web Photo + use case Photos or videos Getting Started Document Marketing Plan

#4: PRODUCTION: This is where TIny Boards that have been vetted as ready for production are taken an a "run" is done on them. The University Program will buy the first batch of 100 and donate them to Universities. In this stage we will execute the production plan as laid out. Output Expected: The folder will move from the PROPAGATE category to TIny Boards folder. Additional Documents will include: Photo of the production Board on a white background for website. The final Schematic, BOM, Design Files all previous revisions to be moved into a new folder within the master folder titled, " ARCHIVE" 1/2 page overview of the board's use that will be the landing page. A wiki-page template filled out for loading on the Wiki Page a suggested price point OPTIONAL: Additional Applications uses (Application Note) Product Release Note
