Dear Registrar,

I am the developer of R.I.S.E., a free, non-commercial reading environment for slow, contemplative reading. One of its rooms is devoted to Scripture, where a small set of sacred images — each a specific museum work, displayed with full attribution — accompanies the reading as a still, centered focal image.

I am writing to ask permission to display images of works from your collection in this setting, beginning with:

• Christ Pantocrator, Russia, late 19th century, oil on wood (accession R2017.4, gift of Dmitry Feld)

Each image would be shown with complete attribution (title, origin, date, accession number, and "The Icon Museum and Study Center, Clinton, Massachusetts"), linked to the object's page on your website. The application is free to use, carries no advertising, and sells nothing; images are displayed for contemplative reading only and are not redistributed, edited, or offered for download.

If you are able to grant this, a short written confirmation — even a reply to this email stating the permission and any conditions — is all we need; we record the stated basis alongside every image we display, and we would be glad to honor any attribution wording or usage conditions you specify. If there are other works from the collection you would be open to including on the same terms, we would welcome that gladly — your collection is exactly the tradition this room hopes to honor.
