Outline

This session discusses the critical edition of Greek and Byzantine lexicographical texts on the example of the Etymologicum Gudianum, with a particular focus on the creation of a multi-faceted, responsive web application combining the edition proper with numerous additional resources including manuscript images. We will provide an introductory overview of the edition of lexicographical texts, in particular etymologika, and of the edition the Etymologicum Gudianum in particular, including existing research, manuscript transmission, and the scope and plans of this long-term project of the Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Hamburg, carried out at Universität Hamburg. The main focus of the session will then be the digital edition and its planned features, including cursory discussion of some of the technical details both pertaining to data modelling and to the implementation.
