Once the database has been set up for the first time (see Installation Guide) you will see a blank user interface:
Click the "Flickr" button to collect photos from Flickr or the "Folders" button to collect photos from your local folders.
Loading from Flickr
Click the "Flickr" button, the system will open a web page and prompt you to log onto your Flickr account. Once logged on, it will ask you to authorise access to the tool:
Click "Authorize" to allow access to the tool. You will be given a 9 digit number by Flickr:
Copy the number and paste it into the popup in Placeless. It's possible the popup has been obscured by another window.
Press OK.
The system will start collecting files from your Flickr account:
For Flickr, "Roots" are the photosets you have set up, as well as the category of "no photoset". Once all roots (photosets) have been discovered, the system will go on to discover files in those sets and download them.
Once complete, the system will automatically generate thumbnails and attributes. You must have thumbnails and attributes available before you can see any of your files in placeless. You can always manually generate thumbnails and attributes by clicking on "Generate Thumbnails" and "Derive Attributes" respectively.

The gallery displays a combo box on the top left with the name of the currently selected attribute. Supported attributes at the moment are "Year Created" and "Set" (corresponding to Flickr photoset).
Click on an attribute value on the left hand side to see the photos which correspond to that attribute value. Click on a photo to see details about that photo.

Right-click an attribute value and select "Export" to export all photos that share that attribute value.
