5 Record and edit the network - Stephan-S/FS19_AutoDrive GitHub Wiki
By clicking on record (see edit mode), the recording process is started and a new point is immediately placed on the vehicles current location. If the setting ‘Auto-connect Start’ is enabled, this point will already be connected to the ‘Selected point’. Now the player can drive the desired path/road to record as many points as he likes. When starting a new map it is recommended to simply start recording all the main roads to have an initial network to connect destinations to.
When the record button is clicked with the middle or right mouse button, it switches to a dual-way recording mode. This mode can be used to record ‘blue’ paths which can be driven in both directions.
By clicking the record button a again, the recording session is stopped. If the setting ‘Auto-connect end’ is enabled and a suitable point is found in the vicinity, the last recorded point will be connected to that point. If both auto-connect options are disabled you will have to connect the new recorded path to the existing network yourself.
Important: If you manually create a connection that results in an angle over 90°, AutoDrive will not use this connection during the recalculation phase.
ToDo: Mark this connection somehow or maybe even delete it with a warning message to the player
5.1 How to connect two points
First, enable the edit mode. Then move your vehicle to the desired start point. The ‘Selected point’ (red line) is always the closest point to the vehicle and will act as the start point. Click on ‘Show neighbour’ to bring up the yellow line which points to a neighbouring point in the vicinity. Then click on ‘Select neighbour’ until the correct point is selected. Create the connection by clicking ‘Toggle connection’. This will create a connection starting from the ‘Selected point’ going to the ‘Neighbour point’. If the connection already exists, it will be removed by this method.
5.2 How to manually create a dual way route
If you want to manually create a route that can be driven in both directions, you can do this by first creating a connection starting from point A and ending at point B and then moving your vehicle to point B and select point A as neighbour and create another connection. So the blue line is actually a representation of two connections in the opposite direction.
5.3 How dual way roads work
For calculation purposes, the dual way roads are handled just the same as normal connections. They only differ when a vehicle is about to enter a dual way section. It will check if there is already an AutoDrive enabled vehicle driving along this section. If it is going in the same direction, the driver is allowed to enter the section, otherwise he will wait for the other vehicle to leave this segment before entering.
5.4 How to add a new destination to an existing network
Simply move your vehicle to the desired location. Enable edit mode and make sure that the ‘Selected point’ is where you want to create your new destination and click the ‘Create Destination’ button in the HUD. This will open a text entry display. Enter the name of the new destination and click OK.
5.5 How to remove a destination
Enable edit mode, move your vehicle so that the ‘Selected point’ is the one of your destination. Then use the secondary function of the ‘Delete point’ button, which will only remove the destination without removing the point.
5.6 How to rename an existing destination
Enable edit mode, chose the destination you would like to rename as target destination and use the secondary function of the ‘Create destination’ button.
