English Tutorial - Stephan-S/AutoDrive GitHub Wiki
Welcome to the AutoDrive wiki!
First of all there are currently three seperate modes implemented.
- Simple "Drive-to-Location" and stop there.
-
The Unloader mode.
In this mode, you will have to select two destinations. One is the starting point and the other one a destination close to an unloading trigger. You have two choices here, either select a starting point near a field where you can load the trailer with your combine directly or an overloading wagon, second option, select a starting point next to a fill station like the storage silos on your farm (where you can select to unload a material with "R" typically). For the first option, the tractor will wait at the starting point until the attached trailer is at its maximum capacity. For the second option, the tractor will fill up the trailer at the silos with the material that is/was inside when you activate AutoDrive with the On/off Button. Once the trailer is filled up, the tractor will start driving to the unload destination. If the path leads over an unloading trigger in close range to the destination, the tractor will halt and unload, then it will continue to drive to the destination point and then from there back to the starting point where it again will wait to be filled up. If you want the tractor to drive off without a full trailer, you can use the "continue" button on the HUD. -
The Silomode. In this mode, the tractors route is not bound to the overall network of waypoints. You have to record a path in one direction over a silo. Before you activate AutoDrive in this mode, the tractor should be standing in front of the first waypoint. It will continue driving forwards until the last point is reached. From there on, it will start driving backwards along the same waypoints until it reaches the first one and starts all over again. Its a pretty simple mode and is only meant to automatically compress your silos.
Apart from these three modes, you will probably spend some time recording waypoints and connecting them to a big network, covering all areas of the map which you are using. To start recording waypoints permanently, first click on the "Debug mode" button in the HUD. Now you can start recording waypoints by clicking the record button. The icon will turn red and indicate that you are now recording. New waypoints will be created every few meters, depending on the angle to the previous segment. So if you are driving in a straight line there will be fewer waypoints than when driving a sharp corner. If you click on the record button again, it will switch it`s color and indicate that you are now recording a route which can be driven in both directions. These route segments are drawn as red lines. This is useful for narrow roads or passages. You dont have to create two routes where the vehicles would collide or stop each other when they would meet. On passages created like this, the tractor will first check if there is already an "AutoDrive enabled" vehicle on this segment and then wait for it to pass before entering it: Click record again to stop recording. The button should turn grey again.
Once you have recorded some waypoints, you can combine them with other recorded segments. In order to do this, click on the show neighbor button. Now a second line (white) will be drawn to a waypoint in the viccinity. You can press the select next neighbor button until the right waypoint is marked. Afterwards, click on the toggle connection button to create or destroy the connection between the current point (blue line) and the neighbor point. Remember to do this not only for the endpoint of your recorded route but also connect the starting point if possible.
Now its time to set the destinations. Just activate the debug mode, and drive to the waypoint which should become a new destination. Then press the "create new destination" button and enter a new name for that destination. Confirm this by pressing the enter key.
Everytime you change anything on the global waypoint network, you should press the recalculate button in the HUD. New destinations and waypoints will only be available for navigating if the routes are recalculated. Depending on the size of your network this could take up some time. But on a new map this should be done in less than a second.
