Claiming

Once you start building your new base, you may want to claim it to protect it from other players! In StardustMC Season 2, we use GriefDefender to manage claims. Here's how to get started:

Create a Claim

1a. Obtain a Golden Shovel. While holding it, it will tell you how many claim blocks you have. Alternatively (especially for Bedrock players), do /claim. 2. With the shovel (or hand if using the command), select the two corners (left or right click) you wish to claim. You will now own the claim, which automatically stretches from the void to height limit. If you wish to visualize the claim, right click the area with a stick.

Congrats! It's that simple.

Claimblocks

In order to prevent players from being able to claim as much as they wish, there is a limit determined by the amount of claimblocks you have. They represent how many blocks on the x/z axis you are able to claim. You can view how many you have either by holding a Golden Shovel or doing /claimblocks.

How to get claim blocks:

  • New players start with 300 blocks
  • 120 blocks are awarded per hour of playtime
    • GriefDefender's system of accrued blocks is different. You will get a twelfth (1/12) of the accrued claim blocks every 5 minutes
    • So with 120 blocks being awarded per hour, its 10 blocks every 5 minutes
  • Purchasing blocks via /buyclaimblocks or at the Admin Shop

Advanced

GriefDefender is quite powerful, and has lots of configs to mess around with. Here are a couple common ones to get you started:

  • /gd trust [player] [role] to give players permission to enter/use your claim(s)
  • /gd abandon <all|allother|claim|top|world> to get rid of your claim(s) depending on which option you choose
  • /townclaims and /basicclaims to toggle between a town and normal claim
