NOTE: netTimestamp is reliable in V6, but is a work in progress in V7. See the V7 Timestamp info page for more information.

The "netTimestamp" field in our normalized feed messages is a hardware timestamp our network switches mark upon receipt of the raw multicast packets from the exchanges or SIPs (Security Industry Processors). The format of this 8 byte timestamp is EPOCH time in nanoseconds. So, this is the nanoseconds that have elapsed since January 1, 1970, 00:00:00 (UTC), not counting leap seconds.

During certain scenarios when we purposely queue up stock and options quotes to reduce the number of quote updates we publish, "netTimestamp" will be set to ZERO. For these specific scenarios, see Section 2 of this page
