Context

We are all sharing our thinking. We do this through discourse, modeling, coding, designing, and learning together. In my work, I often do it through writing.

Writing, like coding, has constraints, heuristics and best practices. These help us deliver impactful outcomes. But the writing practice is fraught! And lonely.

Many of us struggle to convey a meaningful point of view. When we write, we discover that we are tangled in our opinions, biases, frustrations and desires. We trip over our blindspots. Crafting recommendations for improving the quality of a sociotechnical systems is difficult! (And, did I mention, lonely?)

Description

Let's discuss our writing practice. You can add anything you'd like. Some things I had in mind are:

  • Do you have time and space for deep work? If not, how do you create space?
  • Are you working on a writing initiative? How's it going?
  • Do you get the kind of feedback you need to make your writing stronger?
  • What helps you?
  • What blocks you?
  • Do you want to write a book, make a podcast, develop learning experiences or design architectural artifacts? If so, what are your goals?
