How to Improve Learning for New Developers - SoCraTesUK/socrates-uk GitHub Wiki

A session to discuss approaches to improving the learning experience for new developers.

New developers could be university graduates, career changers, return-to-workers, bootcamp graduates, self-taught developers (not an exhaustive list!).

The first section will be to discuss what a good learning environment might look like. We’ll talk about signs you are doing well, anti-patterns, symptoms of a bad learning environment.

The second section will split the group. There will be smaller groups, some tasked with the job of putting themselves in the role of a new dev - what are they looking for in a job, in a new team, in a learning environment. Other groups will put themselves in the position of a team “pitching” their vacancies to new devs - what things do they want to advertise, what are they proud of.

We will then come together and compare the two sides, to see if we can come to any conclusions.
