Parasites: Lore - SkyrimLL/SkLLmods GitHub Wiki
This section includes spoilers about the Queen of Chaurus quest in Parasites
In a nutshell, the core story in Parasites is about the truth behind the Chaurus (not Chauri... there was no Chaurus in Latin language).
A long time ago, Dwemers attempted one of their first boneheaded scientific experiments.
It was something out of Half Life or Stranger Things... open a portal to another dimension. And of course, things went horribly wrong.
Dwemer buildings were sucked into the Rift and parts of the distant world were sucked into the Dwemer empire.
The Queen of that homeworld fought back the invasion. In her rage, and trying to protect her brood from these alien bipeds, she killed the one Dwemer that could have saved her - a scientist who went through the Rift on a mission to retrieve a key to the Tonal device used to open the doorway between worlds.
Without the key, the Dwemers locked up the Rift as much as they could, but it was incomplete and the Queen found herself trapped between worlds. They built a shrine, guarded by automatons, at the place of the doorway as a warning for others to stay away.
For ages, she used a crack between dimensions to sends her brood through. Little by little, they brought spores, eggs, rocks and slowly turned the area into what Blackreach is today (Truth 1: Blackreach is an attempt by the Chaurus to terraform Tamriel into their homeworld).
They also started manipulating the Falmers into their servants. Under their guidance, the Falmers found the subjects to breed with, experimented with hormone altering mixtures ... all in the goal to find a suitable host for the Seed Stones - a symbiote seed capable to creating a hybrid Queen fit for this new world (Truth 2: The Falmers are slaves to the Chaurus and not the other way around).
That host is of course, the Dragonborn. The capacity to absorb dragon souls gives him/her the strength to survive the transformation.
At the conclusion of the quest to become the new queen, the Dragonborn meets with her into the dimensional rift and retrieves the key to the Tonal device. Using that key, the device closes the rift and frees the queen from her prison... except the queen is released on the Skyrim side of the rift and the Dragonborn finds himself having to fight the Queen for the right to become the new Queen.
The tonal device actually casts an Unrelenting force spell on the glowing orb over the Silent City.. and summons Vulthuryol .. or rather, Vulthuryol reskinned as the Chaurus Queen (Truth 3: Vulthuryol wasn't cast out by the Dwemers because he was a dragon.. but because he was something else altogether).
That allowed me to give some purpose to that weird dragon easter egg inside Blackreach.
About the Tentacle attacks when harvesting chaurus egg sacks.
They are supposed to stop once you become the Chaurus Queen.
The tentacle attacks are extensions of the Elder Roots. They are sprawling underground all over Tamriel.
When she got stranded between worlds, the Chaurus Queen had a 'foot' in the door. As she started corrupting Blackreach with spores and glowing mushroom from her world, she got plugged in to the Elder Root and became one of their voices.
She hijacked the root network to protect her eggs when no chaurus were available. That is why you are likely to get attacked when harvesting eggs.
Once you become the Queen, she isn't there to cause the attacks anymore.
My plans will be some sort of epilogue to the main quest and reconnecting with the Elder Roots. You will be able to cause the attacks or maybe they will find new ways to attack you... we will see
