1. Dumping the Japanese DLC - SilentHeII/Fire-Emblem-Fates-Festival-of-Bonds-Translation-Project GitHub Wiki

Overview

In order to apply the translation, we need the assets from the Japanese DLC to rebuild with your own DLC. This of course means you need to have purchased the DLC from the Japanese eShop and have your own version's DLC installed on the same 3DS. Alternatively, if titlekey websites were a thing, you could probably use FBI to install the DLC using a QR code. It's a total shame that doesn't exist, right? If it did the DLC would probably be under フゑむをーエムブレムif η™½ε€œηŽ‹ε›½ with a title ID of 0004008c0012dc00.

If you're perceptive you'd notice the DLC title ID falls considers itself DLC for the Birthright version. This is true for every release of the game. That's alright because the Nohrian and special editions of game are programmed to look for DLC under the Birthright versions so no extra hassle for us. The great thing about GodMode9 is we can dump pretty much all of the DLC content without any extra effort on PC.

Anyway, let's begin by making a few folders on our SD card for housekeeping reasons.

Dumping the Japanese Assets from the DLC:

  1. Hold (Start) and power on your 3DS.
  2. If you have no other payloads then you should boot directly into GodMode9, otherwise select it to boot into it.
  3. Select SDCARD
  4. Hold (R) and press (Y) and make a new folder. We'll be putting all the necessary DLC here so let's name the folder DLC or something similar.
  5. Go back to the main meny and select SYSNAND SD.

  1. Now navigate to title/0004008c. This is where all the DLC on your 3DS is stored.
  2. You should see several folders now, select the folder that says 0012dc00. This is the Japanese DLC.

  1. Go to content/00000000and you will now be presented with many .app files. These are the NCCH archives that contain all the assets for each individual DLC. The ones we're looking for are 00000063.app, 0000006c.app, and 0000006b.app.
  2. Use the (L) button to highlight the 00000063.app and 0000006c.app files.
  3. Press (Y) to copy the those two files to the clipboard and backout to the main menu. Go to SDCARD and paste them into the DLC folder on your SD card.

We now have both the Hoshidan and Nohrian Festival of Bonds DLC, but we're not done yet.

  1. Navigate back to SYSNAND SD/title/0004008c/0012dc00/content/00000000 and select 0000006b.app with the (A) button.
  2. Select NCCH image options... then Mount image to drive. Press (A) when prompted.
  3. Enter the romfs/icons folder. You will now see several numbered files with the .icn extension.
  4. Press (L) to mark 31.icn and 32.icn. These files should now be highlighted yellow.

  1. Press (Y) to copy them to the clipboard and paste them into the DLC folder on your SD card. These are the preview icons for the DLC shown in the Dragon's Gate menu.

IF YOU'RE GOING TO REBUILD THE DLC FOR THE EUROPEAN VERSIONS: Rename 00000063.app to 0000006b.app or else you will overwrite Heirs of Fate IV accidentally. The European guide will assume you renamed the DLC as such.

Now it's time to dump your DLC depending on your region.
