Introduction
Gems are the primary crafting item in Silent's Gems. There are 48 kinds total, or less in ancient versions (either 32 or 12). Gems can be broken down into shards or compacted into blocks. They can also be crafted with chaos essence and glowstone dust to create supercharged gems (Minecraft 1.12.2 and lower only). A variety of building blocks can also be crafted. As always, use a mod like JEI to view recipes.
Silent Gear
Silent Gear parts are included for all gems (plus some other items). Simply install both mods. Silent Gear is not required, but highly recommended.
Minecraft 1.13.2 and higher: The tool and armor system in Gems is gone. If you want tools and armor, you need to install Silent Gear.
Names Changes
In 1.13.2, several gems were renamed/shuffled around.
- Beryl -> green sapphire
- Indicolite -> phosphophyllite
- Iolite and tanzanite swapped places
- Golden beryl -> zircon
- Moonstone -> euclase
- Blue topaz -> benitoite
- Violet sapphire -> alexandrite
- Alexandrite -> moonstone
- Zircon -> yellow diamond
48 Kinds!?
Each gem also has its own unique set of stats for tools. Some are more durable, some dig faster, etc. Hover over a gem and hold the Shift key for more information. This works with all "tool parts", not just gems!
Sets
The gems are divided into three sets: classic, dark, and light.
- Classic - Found in the overworld and similar dimensions. Twelve of the sixteen were found in Silent's Gems 1.0.0 (classic version).
- Dark - Found in the Nether. These have darker shades and slightly different hues. Added in 2.0.0(?), the Minecraft 1.9 rewrite.
- Light - Found in the End. These have ligher shades and slightly different hues, aside from the last two which have more unique colors. Added in 2.5.0.
For Tool Crafting (Minecraft 1.12.2 and lower)
Regular gems (the kind that drop from ores) are "Regular" tier parts. Supercharged gems are "Super" tier parts. When crafting tools, you can mix different parts (even gems with ingots, for example), but all parts must be the same tier. Also note that supercharged gems cannot be uncrafted.
Stats
Below are charts for the stats of all regular and supercharged gems. Supercharged stats are based on the regular stats: durability is quadrupled and most other stats have a fixed amount added.
Note that different tool/weapon types have different effects on stats. Some have durability multipliers. Melee/magic damage is always added to a base value the tool/weapon type has. Melee speed is a multiplier for the tool/weapon's attack speed.
Harvest Level
All regular-tier gems have a harvest level of 2 (diamond), and all super-tier gems are level 4 (cobalt).
