Sprint Retrospective - Shrim-V/InstaShrim GitHub Wiki

What we got done:

We were able to get the three basic requriements working early on into our last scrum, with the search bar fully-functioning. Then, we were able to give our site a complete makeover, making it look fun and professional at the same time. We were able to style by using a little bit of code from materialize.css, but mostly with our own css, which we are very proud of. As far as additional enhancements are concerned, we had it so that users had to confirm their passwords when signing up, which adds additional security to the page. As well, we were able to put hashtags on each individual word, as we know that hashtags cannot contain spaces. Finally, our entire social media site is tri-lingual, meaning that it can be accessed in English, Spanish, and French.

What went well:

We think the css and styling went really well, as we have recieved lots of praise for our colorful scheme. As well, the little-little add-ons that we incorporated into our website made a large impact overall. Additionally, we were able to work with other people when we needed help and when they needed help to enhance the quality of both our sites. Finally, dividing the tasks up into some backend and some frontend for each person was a great strategy, as it provided us with a balance.

What didn't go so well:

There was a massive time restraint with our website, as we only had three weeks and that too we had to restart our project many times. As well, sometimes working together would get very aggravating and we would need a break from each other. Finally, merging the code together from one laptop to the other was probably the hardest part of this project, as it created a large compatibility hassle between the two laptops.

Overall & Next Time:

Overall, we believe the project was a success. We were able to use good coding practice and learn a lot about javascript, html, css, and php, while creating a fun website. Yes, there were many difficulties, for example the fact that we had to redo our project seven(!) times, and that our site was incompotent for a very long time. We think that next time, if we were to redo the project, we would want to be in larger groups, as we can divide the tasks up, making the project much less stressful for everyone in the group.
