statement - ShaneBeee/SkBee GitHub Wiki
You may be wondering why I have chosen to put SkBee to rest. Well, I hope this clears it up for you.
For WELL over the past year, BaeFell has sent me numerous DMs regarding his distrust for Kenzie.
Claiming that adding Kenzie to the admin team was a huge mistake.
He made comments as to how Kenzie said things about them wanting to leave and he wished they did.
BaeFell even stated that Sam wanted Kenzie gone as well as they didn't get along.
BaeFell even stated that Kenzie went behind his back and asked Wrong (several times) to buy the "skunity.com" domain from Wrong.
So basically all the admins want Kenzie gone, but no one will do anything about it.
I think the entire team knows by now that Kenzie is just here for control, and nothing else.
BaeFell felt belittled by things Kenzie said to/about him in the public channels.
great reason to keep Kenzie right?
Along all this, Kenzie performed admin tasks that BaeFell either didn't like and/or approve.
When I asked BaeFell why he doesn't just demote Kenzie, I kept getting run around answers.
A big one was that he felt Kenzie had too much of a place in the community due to being the "LEAD" over at SkriptLang (more on that later).
BaeFell has also admitted to only keeping Kenzie as an admin was due to Kenzie's involvement in SkriptLang.
"kenzie snuck their way to the top of skriptlang, keeping pickle and kenzie in my hands means skriptlang stays on skunity"
"but yes - skriptlang is why i keep kenzie around keep your friends close and your enemies closer"
BaeFell has admitted on one occasion that Kenzie is mean to the staff team.
Maybe this is why mods keep leaving?
(I can't find the message to quote it, will keep looking)
So BaeFell chooses to keep Kenzie around for personal gain rather than do what is best for the community.
Long story short, BaeFell is too scared to removed Kenzie as he fears Kenzie will pull SkriptLang/Skript away from skUnity.
I have noticed time and time again Kenzie making poor choices for skUnity, which has angered many users.
When discussing these things with BaeFell it usually went 1 of 2 ways:
- BaeFell exclaiming his unhappiness with Kenzie and the actions, and proceeding to do nothing about it.
- BaeFell claiming to be on Kenzie's side with the decisions.
The 2 responses always seem odd and ass backwards.
Long story short, BaeFell hates/fears the confrontation and won't actually take action to do what is best for his community.
SkUnity is being run by a team of people who dislike and can't trust each other. Just what a community needs.
When I was first added to the SkriptLang team years ago, before I got added the entire team discussed whether or not I'd be a good fit.
After I was added, this trend continued. We always discussed adding new members before we did such.
One day SnowPyon decided to add LimeGlass to the group without any discussion.
(Note: Snow had previously stated he had no desire to add LimeGlass, and the rest of the team seemed to feel the same) but he went and did it anyways. And right after Snow did this, he jumped ship.
LimeGlass' attitude really put the team in an awkward position. Many people had complained about how he acted on the team.
At some point Kenzie joined the team to basically "lead" the project.
I honestly don't remember any discussion around this.
When they first joined, the only thing I remember them doing was screwing up our roles and breaking our permissions. The entire team lost basically any permission that Bensku had originally trusted us with.... and why not, Kenzie loves their power.
I'm pretty positive this is the only reason they joined the team.
I can't see any other reason? It's not like Kenzie did anything with the Skript community, nor did they contribute.
This put the team in an awkward position. The team still lacked direction and organization. Kenzie did absolutely nothing.
SkriptLang sat around with no updates for nearly a year (2 years for a major update) ... more on that later.
Between LimeGlass' poor attitude, as well as the lack of organization/direction from the team is the reason I chose to leave.
I didn't want to be part of a team that did nothing, and was basically letting the project die.
When I left, Pickle said to me "if you ever wanna come back, just ask".
A while after leaving, the distaste for LimeGlass grew so much that a secret group was formed in skUnity called "the secret plan"
This channel was created for a few members to talk about how they planned to remove "the bloat" (how LimeGlass was referred to in secret) from the SkriptLang team.
I was invited to this group. I soon realized they didn't actually have a plan, they just bitched about LimeGlass and nothing went from there.
I decided to actually do something.
After countless DMs with Kenzie and Pickle, the consensus was "we want LimeGlass gone, but we just don't know how to do it."
Kenzie also claimed they made a deal with Bensku not to remove him.
After a discussion with Bensku, I found out this was a lie and no such deal was ever made.
I went back to Kenzie/Pickle in public, talking about how this needs to happen, for the sanity of the group and the community.
After many discussions and fights, Pickle finally DMd me one morning to tell me they had officially removed LimeGlass from the team.
Hooray! We did it!
Next up was the major issue regarding lack of organization, direction and transparency from the team.
At this point, Skript 2.7 was in the works. It had been 1 year since the latest release (2.6.4) and 2 years since the latest major release (2.6).
Skript was really falling behind, people were asking constantly where the updates were.
Big problem here was SkriptLang wasn't communicating AT ALL with the community.
I had several chats with the team in the Skript-dev channel, calling them out for all of this.
I even went hard on Kenzie to the point of saying they did NOTHING for the team, which they admitted (or did they?).
Shortly after that fire was lit under their asses, Kenzie released the "clockwork release model".
The team was FINALLY getting their act together. Shortly after that, Skript 2.7 was FINALLY released.
But, did anything really get better? Not really.
Sovde and tud were added to the team (maybe before all this?).
Finally the team gets some help as members were slowly moving away from the project.
SkriptLang has 13 team members, but do any of them do anything?
Now came the time for me to maybe come back and help?
So I asked Pickle to rejoin the team.
This is a really long story, but I'll give you the short version:
Pickle either lied to me, or just felt like dickin me around for months.
The excuses were overwhelming.
I was constantly told "we (the team) are talking about it" (this went on for months).
Pickle claimed Kenzie had a plan to revamp the team (involving removing inactive members) MONTHS AGO.
This has clearly not happened.
Skript 2.9 is a good visualization of this.
For about a week I remember seeing Sovde begging others to help review PRs, and no one did.
It was finally 2 days before release that the team started to get their act together and prepare for 2.9 release.
TWO DAYS!!! you've had how many months to work on this, and you wait til last minute? (as with every update).
Essentially Pickle and Sovde are working on Skript themselves, with minor support from Tud and Pikachu.
The team needs more people. Which both Pickle and Sovde have said on multiple occasions.
I even made a comment "if only there were a past member wanting to come back and help, and if only you guys would allow it".
Sovde's response was something along the lines of "Kenzie is working on it". OH BIG SHOCKER!!!! Kenzie, who is notorious for getting nothing done and abandoning projects.... great!
I've had all these convos with BaeFell and has fully agreed, the only reason Kenzie took these roles wasn't to help, but to have a role/power/clout!
In summary, both SkriptLang and skUnity need better/proper leadership. The current leadership by Kenzie is severely lacking.
This communities both need a leader who cares about the project/community, we just don't have this right now.
SkBee has become a huge add-on.
Many people have stated (not my words) that Skript would be lost without SkBee because SkBee builds so much onto Skript where Skript is severely lacking.
With that said, I feel like SkBee needs to belong to a community that cares, and until SkUnity and SkriptLang shape up... SkBee will no longer be getting updates.
I have made a few comments regarding SkBee heading another direction... and this may happen. I have discussed with several people about forking Skript and taking Skript in a better direction (I have originally talked to BaeFell about this, and he fully supported it, but probably not now ;) ).
At this time anyone is free to fork SkBee and do whatever they want with it.
But until I see a change in these two communities, I won't be working on SkBee myself.
