Lab 4 3 Simple 2 Network Packet Tracer Lab
Objective
Build and observe a Simple Network with 2 Networks
Goals
- Observe the role of the router
- Identify the impact of each networks as it's own Broadcast Domain
Summary
In this lab I used Cisco Packet Tracer to simulate building a network with two networks, and configuring the devices to have their IP addresses, subnet mask, and default gateways. As well as simulating what a ping between two devices across two networks looks like. No problems were encountered during this lab, perhaps just some confusion navigating the different tabs. Some useful instructions I learned was saving NVRAM helped the Router save the MAC addresses it has a record of.
Things to Consider:
- Document the use of "Simulation Mode"
Simulation mode is when instead of the network traffic being done in real time (faster than seconds) it shows each step happening in a slowed down speed and showing where the packets are being sent.
- Document how to save configurations on routers
To save configurations on routers, in the config tab under settings, save NVRAM to save the current configurations of the router.
- Enter useful Packet Tracer Tips/Tricks you pick up
You can filter what packets you want to see, or multiple types of different packets, or all the packets during simulation mode.
