This Blender addon (tested 2.63-2.66) will help automate the creation of node textures.

-Automatically render to the proper Dagon directory as PNGs or TGAs with the proper filename format.
-Specify a name for the node files.
-Select any or all 6 faces to render
-Set the resolution
-Render the faces using the active camera at its current location

But wait, there's more...

-By creating Empties with the prefix "NM_", ie "NM_bedroom2east", the camera will automagically render your cube faces from that location, for every Empty with the prefix. In this case the filename specified is ignored and the texture file names will be taken from the Empty, ie "bedroom2east". This is useful for those sandbox scenes where the scene is all setup and you just want to render a bunch of nodes within the scene.

-Features in work: automatically create B&W masks, automatically bundle your textures. Both are currently not working. (the bundler utility is not playing nice with Python)

You can get the addon from my dropbox here BTW, this has not been tested in Mac or Linux, only Windows.

There is also a thread on the forum for pictures, discussion, requests, bugs, and cake, although that might be a bit dried out by now.
