Working with audio formats
Actual Information!
Tip #1 for highest quality audio
There are many different audio formats which you can work with, as is the case with images and video. However, also as with images and video, what format you chose to edit with can effect the final quality considerably. When editing, always go with a "lossless" audio format, such as 16-bit PCM WAV, FLAC, or similar. These formats preserve the sound perfectly edit to edit, with no quality loss. When the sound is finally ready for your game, then you can convert it to Ogg Vorbis, which is a "lossy" format. A lossy format removes certain sections and frequencies of the sound to make the file smaller, but, if applied multiple times, re-edited, and applied again, it will begin to sound bad.
