Ultimately, the goal is to move data that is sensible in one format, to data that is sensible in another. The job of translating from the Journal Publishing Tag Set (JPTS) to EPUB can be distilled into a few discrete tasks.

• Metadata - Collect JPTS so that it can be presented as EPUB metadata. We also expect to synthesize some primary reading content from this metadata.
• Body Content - Body content must be translated to utilize acceptable EPUB elements and to implement special features and accessibility.
• Navigation - The Table of Contents basically... The program needs to comprehend the source's structure to produce a sensible way of quickly navigating it.
