Stellaris
This page is dedicated to understanding the mechanics and nuances of the Stellaris mod. This is not the Stellaris wiki. That wiki is here.
Current Problems
- None of the aliens in this mod have special traits or abilities granted by the shapeshifting mod, Remorpher (Woodwalkers). A datapack for this can be made at a later time however.
- This mod is still considered in "Beta" which means bugs can occur. I have encountered one crash so far but it is currently avoidable - for the time being, the "Moon Sphere" structure should be considered off limits.
Warning
- Be very, very prepared before attempting to leave the planet. Bring lots of supplies.
Getting Started
To start crafting items from the mod you need:
- Heavy Iron, created by using already-smelted Iron in a Smelter
- Steel, mined from the ground
To get off the ground and survive you need:
- At least one Diamond
- Oxygen and Hydrogen from the Water Separator
- A full space suit, with items for every slot. Common items plus some redstone are used to craft these.
- Fuel, which is created by refining Oil in a Refinery. Oil is found with the Oil Finder and pumped out of the ground using a Pumpjack - this may be the most time consuming part of the mod. You will need the diamond for this step to create your drill and oil rig (Pumpjack).
More Advanced:
- To Upgrade your rocket you will use Desh a material found the moon
- To provide further upgrades and power the Radioactive Generator you can use Uranium from Mercury
To proceed you will need a lot of iron, steel, and coal. You will need enough to produce all the machines and infrastructure necessary to eventually construct and fuel your rocket and create and oxygenate your spacesuit, not to mention bringing enough materials to survive once you get to a planet. Once landing on a planet, you will have no way back unless you can craft one there or you brought one with you.
- All machines are powered by electricity, not redstone. The power generators are available in the mod. They are:

- Coal Generator

- Radioactive Generator
At bare minimum, the machines you will need are:
- Water Separator
- A power generator (multiple is best, lots of coal or time in the sun with solar panels works)
- Oxygenator, to fill your spacesuit with oxygen and fill oxygen tanks. Then you can take this with you to oxygenate your base.
- A Pumpjack to pump oil out of the ground
- An oil refinery, to turn oil into buckets of Fuel
- Finally, a Rocket Station where you place the recipe for the Rocket. The ingredients for these components are no more than some redstone and heavy iron plus some less advanced items. Create multiple rockets before leaving. Also for every rocket you plan to launch you will need 9 Rocket Launch Pads
- Probably plan to stay on that planet for a while, as there is a lot to explore. From what I can tell, Waypoints are not spawned there. Attempting to Waypoint to and from another planet has not yet been tested. Once a teleportation mod is installed we may be able to use that.
Going to Space
Get in your rocket and press the Open button to open the Rocket menu. Put buckets of fuel into the rocket until it's full, then you can launch it. Be sure you are dressed head to toe in a spacesuit. While launching, if you press the crouch/sneak button you will dismount and fall from the rocket. It takes a while to get out of the Atmosphere.
A menu comes up and you can select a planet. Press the freeze button to freeze the planets and click one.
After selecting a planet you will then load into the new Planet Dimension.
Landing on a Planet
At this point you are falling in the Lander. Getting out of the Lander early will cause the Lander to fall to the ground and explode in a massive explosion.
- You will appear to be "on top of" the Lander. In reality, it seems you might be sitting or attached inside it but the model clips out of it. Switch to 3rd person camera view so it doesn't look glitchy. Wait until the Lander lands all the way before proceeding.
