This is a quick tutorial for installing and activating a Python virtual environment env
.
Creating a new virtual environment
Windows:
Enter the following in Command Prompt
>mkvirvualenv env
Unix (Linux and macOS):
Enter the following in a Bash environment (often via a Terminal emulator)
$ python3 -m venv env
Use Anaconda (user-friendly, supports most platforms):
Alternatively, you can install Anaconda on Windows and Unix systems and create a virtual environment using its graphical user interface.
Activating a virtual environment
Windows:
>workon env
If you don't remember the name of your virtual environment, you can list existing environments:
>workon
Unix:
$ source env/bin/activate
