The King of Tongues "There's not a single thing in this universe that can't be made better with a little extra me."
##Duke Nukem history Duke Nukem hails from the Duke Nukem franchise, created by Apogee Software/3D Realms before being transferred to Gearbox Software, and has the interesting honor of being one of the most iconic faces of the FPS genre despite A: Not even starting in FPSes, and B: Most of his games critically bombing.
The Duke franchise started in 1991 as a side-scrolling platformer, in which a pink-shirted curly-haired Duke Nukum got upset over Dr. Proton constantly interrupting his soap operas with TV broadcasts. It was quirky and charming, and spawned a sequel where he fought against an alien race hell-bent on conquering Earth. Then Doom was released. And the franchise decided to step up its game.
In 1996, Duke Nukem 3D was released to critical acclaim and bombastic media coverage, not only at the sheer amount of new features introduced but also the incredibly mature content. Duke Nukem became a household name overnight, and stayed recognizable in pop culture since. Even nowadays, when someone thinks "first person shooter", the typical sneering mug of Duke Nukem is sure to pop up somewhere.
What followed, though, is old news to anyone familiar with the video game industry. Despite the power of the Duke brand, the games that kept coming out were...either okay, forgettable, or just downright bad. Advance was an embarrassment, Land of the Babes was a travesty, Zero Hour was just more of the same. Spin-offs, third-person shooters, and more just kept tarnishing the franchise, and people were getting hungry for a "real" Duke title. Then, 3D Realms promised Duke Nukem Forever.
Everyone knows how that ended.
Still, at least Duke Nukem 3D was great.
##Duke Nukem in Samsara Duke Nukem is the Crowd Control of the Heroes, and specializes in pounding waves after waves after waves of enemies over and over and over. Duke has the highest number of explosive weapons, all of his explosives force their radius damage, and even his non-explosive weapons are all about a constant pounding--the Ripper has the highest damage of all the chaingun weapons, and the Riot Shotgun is incredibly quick to pump. The best way to play Duke is to hang back and let 'er rip, which lends himself to an extremely easy playstyle. Just because he's easy to play, however, doesn't mean he's easy to handle. Turns out just a tanktop and jeans aren't the best defense; Duke was notoriously fragile in the Build engine, and here in Samsara he goes squish just as easily. With the exception of radius damage (which he actually has a 10% resistance to), he takes 10% extra damage from everything. While 10% may not seem like much, experienced players can tell you against hordes of enemies even one stray Zombieman shot can spell life or death. Further confounding the issue is his slower movement speed, also from the Build engine--without that extra boost of speed, dodging attacks becomes much more difficult. Still, Duke is not without his rewards. Once players get momentum building up, it's often very difficult to get the King to stop rockin' and rollin'.
Strengths: All of Duke's explosives force radius damage, so there's no enemy that can resist the crowd control. Weaknesses: He takes 10% more damage from everything and moves 10% slower than everyone else. Main Weapons: Explosive Shotgun, RPG

Riot Shotgun: Somewhere along the line, FPSes decided that shotguns should be hilariously, stupidly inaccurate. The Riot Shotgun does not adhere to this rule.
Explosive Shotgun: Straight from Duke Nukem 64,
Chaingun Cannon: Colloquially known as the "Ripper", and for good reason, the Chaingun Cannon spews forth a constant stream of death from its three-barreled Nordenfeldt maw.

Freezethrower: empty
Devastators: Real men dual-wield their Ultimate.
