Using "minicom" to console to a switch Connect Console Cable to Cisco Switch and a Foster Workstation. From command terminal on workstation, type "sudo minicom -s." This will allow you to set the terminal settings to connect to the Cisco switch
Setup minicom defaults Press "A" to setup which serial port to use. Press "E" to change baud rate to 9600. Escape back and press F to turn off hardware flow control. "Save Setup to dfl" Select Exit - this will take you to the normal minicom session
Connect with minicom Power on switch, (plug it in), you should see the loading messages. If you see a message asking to start the "initial configuration dialogue" - type "no"
