Process Variables

In the plot process variables, the graphs show the temperature and total solvent and antisolvent mass profile, respectively.

Both graphs can be separated into three regions:

Region I: linear decrease of temperature while total mass stays constant Region II: constant temperature while total mass increases Region III: linear decrease of temperature while total mass stays constant

Concentration plot

Region I: Drop because of consumption of solute due to growth Region II: Dilution Region III: same as I

Supersaturation plot

Region I: monotonous increase due to temperature drop Region II: decrease because concentration decreases due to increase of total mass Region III: balance according to the following relation

where at the beginning, the denominator prevails, later the nominator.

Operating system plot

In this plot the concentration is shown dependent on the temperature. Basically, the information from the concentration and supersaturation plot are respresented in one plot. The three regions mentioned above can be recognized again. Furthermore, the graph shows that the system is supersaturated at any point.

PSD cumulative properties

In this plot, the 0-th moment, 3-rd moment and the volume average length are plotted. The moments are defined as

and the volume average length is definde as

.
